are $8.50, $7.50 and $6.50. Quarterfinals also in the Forum are on Feb. 26, 27 and 28, with prices at $7.50 and $6.50. Preliminaries in the Forum, with prices of $6.50 and $5.00, are scheduled for Jan. 29, 30 and 31, and Feb.

5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21. The 54th annual tournament sponsored by the Daily News Charities are especially structured this year to accommodate Olympic and international standards. Competition will include two new weight divisions in sub-novice and open Classes, meaning that 22 championship bouts will be staged at the finals. The 11 open champions will represent New York in the Intercity bouts in Chicago on April 11. io Highlights For most amateurs, a Golden Gloves title is the height of their aspirations.

For Mitch Green, it is a stepping stone. Mitch Green, three times a Golden Gloves heavyweight champion and an overwhelming favorite to make it four in the competition which starts on Jan. 29, wants nothing less than an Olympic title. And it is not a far-fetched dream. Ask Mike Ganz.

GANZ IS THE touted San Francisco heavyweight who planned to use Green as a stepping stone to his own Olympic aspirations in the AAU intercity finals as the Garden last Saturday. Mitch dispatched him in 1:05 of the first, a stunning left hook to the body finishing the job two similar punches had started. "I must be getting pretty good," Green said yesterday, "when I knock 'em out with body shots." "Pretty good" is an understatement Only a butt which stopped him in the quarterfinals two years ago mars a perfect Gloves record. Last year all his wins were by knockouts; This year, he promises, he'll be better. He has quit his job to spend full time preparing for the Olympics.

"I'm really getting it together," the 6-4, 210-pounder from Queens says. "I'm taking time out so I can just thing about boxing." Mitch Green speaks slowly, and thoughtfully. He fights thoughtfully, too. There is the brute power of a heavyweight, but there is also poise and ringmanship, plus a stinging left which enables him to take full advantage of an exceptional reach. Ganz came out smoking against Green.

Mitch calmly but swiftly coun-terpunched him into helplessness. He has mapped bis future just as thoughtfully as he 12.00 WNEW Sears Radio Theater, "Two Faces of Evil" 12:05 WQX.R Casper Citron Interviews. "The Best Way to Introduce Young Children to Musical Instrument talks and fights." After I win the Gloves," he says, "I'll go to the nationals and then the Olympic trials. I never turned pro before (he is 22) because I figure you should do your learning as an amateur. I want to know how when I'm a professional." NOW HE THINKS he knows how better than any amateur in the world.

And he thinks his wait-and-learn policy will play off. "If you win the Olympics," he reasons, "you can more or less demand what you want." One thing Mitch Green wants is a bout with Marvis Frazier, Joe's son, who is considered a good bet to carry the stars and stripes in the heavyweight division at Moscow "He ain't no threat," says Green. "Too flatfooted. Too slow. He's in great condition but he's got no punch." Mitch Green has and he'll be using it next in the Golden Gloves.

"I don't know yet when my first bout is," he says, "but I'll be ready." Tickets to the Gloves preliminary, quarterfinal and semifinal bouts held in the Felt Forum, and to the finals held in the main arena of Madison Square Garden, are now on sale. They are available at the Garden and at Ticketron outlets, but there are NO ticket sales at The News.
