The suggestion for such a commission was made today by this newspaper to help deal with the school crisis. Those who would com Hicks said, "I'll take it under consideration." Joseph Lee rejected it entirely, seeing no need of an outside group.

Dean Childress, who is vacationing out of state, said "I'd be happy to participate in a study." Fr. Donovan said, "I'd be willing to cooperate. However. I don't feel that we should be used as a bludgeon group.

If we are to be effective, everybody involved must be willing to have us serve. This includes, the mayor, the citizens groups and those who are opposed to busing." The reaction of those School Committee members reached by the Globe was mixed. Chairman Mrs. Louise Day TEN CENTS Keg. U.S.

Lee Expected To Propose Busing Pupils The Boston School Committee will hold a special meeting next Tuesday to consider a proposal by committeeman Joseph Lee for solving the problem of overcrowded schools in Dorchester and Roxbury. Lee, who requested the meeting, is reported ready to present a plan that calls for the busing of pupils from these districts to other sections of the city. Less than 48 hours would remain for the implementation of the Lee proposal, for schools will open on Tuesday.

It is understood that he already has the support of a majority of the five-member school board. In the past Lee voted for the temporary busing of pupils. The blood-red 100 carat jewel, one of the largest and most perfect gems in the world, was resting on a ledge at the top of the booth on the heavily traveled Sunshine State Pkwy. MICCICHE House Speaker John Y. X. Davoren flip-flopped today and will meet after all in a summit talk on taxes with Gov. Volpe over the Labor Day week-end. In a stunning reversal of his emphatic rejection of any such notion just 15 hours earlier, Davoren decided shortly before noon that he would discuss the tax issue with the Republican governor.

Reached at his Dennisport Summer home, Davoren said he changed his mind as a "courtesy to the governor." And who knows, some good may come from it," added the House Democratic leader. But "courtesy" was hot apparent in Davoren's statement late Thursday which had thoroughly it seemed nixed the whole idea of a week-end parley with the governor to seek out a compromise to the knotty tax issue. "Contrary to published news Davoren had stated Thursday, "neither I nor any member of the House Democratic leadership have any intention of meeting with his excellency. Gov. Volpe, this week-end to discuss any compromise on the tax situation." Davoren concluded his refusal to sit down with the chief executive with this tart advice.
