Physics PhD Today A seminarian at Weston Col lege, the Jesuit seminary at Weston, will be among 77 . 10 graduate students at M.I.T. receive doctorate degrees at the Institute's 100th Com mencement exercises today. Rev. Mr. William H. Nichols, S.J., 30, will receive his Ph.D. JESUIT SEMINARIAN-t-Rev. William H. Nichols, 30, who will & receive his PhD today at M.I.T. I Commencement. in physics and also a research : grant to continue his studies on and Dr Chin N Yang of Princeton University, were .awarded Nobel prizes last year. Mr. Nichols will return to the seminary in the fall to continue with his studies for the priesthood. He has two more years of study before ordination. ' Turned Down Scholarship He entered the seminary in 1945 following graduation from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, O. He won a national scholar ship award, which he chose to turn down to enter the semi nary at Milford, O. His interest in physics did not develop until 1952 when he taught summer school students at Westbaden College, West-baden, Ind. In 1953 he transferred to Weston seminary. He received permission to enter M.I.T. the same year and began five years of study at both institutions. He won his B.S. degree from the Institute in 1955. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. A.
