THE BONHAM DAILY FAVORITE PORTS Bonham, Texas, Wednesday, Aug. 3, 1955 Eagles, Missions Win And Stay At Top in TL Race By United Dallas and San Antonio, the Texas two front runnero, won the only games played Tuesday night as rain cancelled Oklahoma City at Beaumont and Tulsa at Shreveport. Big Red Murff won his 24th game of the season as his Dallas mates collected 16 hits for a 13 to 0 whitewash of Houston. Charley Locke was wilder, but managed to register his 15th victory while allowing 11 hits in a 6 to 4 San Antonio win over Fort Worth. Ray 25th homer and other circuit blasts by Dick Getter and Kddie Knoblauch were among the 16 Dallas blows off four Houston hurlers.

Starter Barney Schultz was the loser. So easy was the Dallas win that Manager Red Davis rested Murff, Murray and Knoblauch in the laie innings. Kal Segrist hit 18th homer of the year with tw0 out in the last of the ninth to win for San Antonio. Wednesday night Dallas Is nt Houston. Fort Worth at San Antonio.

3 Shortstop Ernie Banks of the Chicago Cubs put his name in record book alongside sluggers like Babe Ruth and Gehrig Tuesday when he walloped his fourth grand slam homer of the season. Going into the game with the Indians, Collins was low man on the Yankee totem pole with an unimposing average of .209.

Collins began boosting that mark with a home run in the first inning and by the time he hit bis second homer of the game in the 10th, the Yankees had a sorely- needed 2-1 victory and his average was up to .221. That mark is still the lowest among the Yankee regulars but no one is complaining. For second circuit, and his third hit of the game, snapped a 1-all deadlock that existed since the first inning and kept the hot on the heels and only one game behind the pace-setting White Sox, who squeaked through to a 2-1 triumph over the Red Sox. Byrne Over Wynn Southpaw Tommy Byrne out- duelled Early Wynn in the Yankee victory, yielding Cleveland's only run in the first inning on a leadoff triple by Al Smith and a sacrifice fly by Bobby Avila. Faye Throneberry then tripled off Morris Martin but Dixie Howell came in to Eddie Joost for the final out. Jim Rivera's fourth inning homer proved the winning margin. The Tigers blew a six-run lead and then another two-run lead but rallied for three runs in the ninth to lick the Senators 13-10. Harvey Kuenn paced 17- hit attack with two doubles and two singles. In other games, the Orioles beat the Athletics 5-1 while the National League saw Milwaukee defeat first-place Brooklyn 5-3, the Giants beat the Cards 5-0, the Cubs win 12-4 over the Pirates, and Cincinnati take a pair from Philadelphia, 2-0 and 4-0.

Brooklyn Drops One Milwaukee rallied for four runs in the eighth inning to defeat first- place Brooklyn with the help of Eddie Mathews' 28th and 29th homers of the campaign. Don throwing error with two out in the eighth enabled the Braves to score their winning runs. Duke Snider slammed his 36th homer in the fifth frume off starter Bob Buhl. Cincinnati stretched its winning streak to seven straight games by beating Philadelphia twice. 3 (UP) Four prisoners, including an accused murderer, locked the jailer in solitary confinement, took 15 cases of confiscated whisky and fled in the car Tuesday night. The jailer, C. L. Hudson, said the four threatened him with a I knife and made him give up his keys. They also had a .38 caliber pistol, he said.
