Anon. Two stray horses led three policemen on a wild and woolly chase over the streets of Mattapan early today. The galloping critters were spotted by route patrolman William F. Rowell shortly after 6 a.m. as they went clippity-clopping down Blue Hill av.

side by side. Rowell wasn't going to allow such goings-on on his beat, especially at such an early hour, so he took off on foot after the two chestnut colored nags. Happily, he was joined by officers Irwin L. Hainline and Leo F. Redziewicz, who arrived on the scene in a cruiser, and the pursuit was on in dead earnest.

Off down Blue Hill av. trotted the two critters with a speed and grace that any thoroughbred that ever trod the stately soil of Suffolk Downs would have been proud to display. And close behind shouting "Whoa," and "slow down" and "halt in the name of the The chase lasted about 20 three miles. minutes and covered nearly Occasionally, the animals would veer off down a side street, just to break the monotony, but for the most part they concentrated on Blue Hill av. Rowell used Western methods to capture the other horse. He made a lasso out of his belt and tossed it over the animal's neck.

The two horses are the prop erty of the Forest Hills stable. Owner Sal Petrozziello called the Mattapan police station at 9 a.m. to report them missing and was informed they were tied to a tree outside the sta tion waiting for him to come and pick them up. Dr. J.

CARL MOORE Continued From the First Page He was born in Dorchester on Dec. 6, 1892, and attended Mather School. He attended Burdett's, after which he was employed as a salesman. Illness forced Carl to resign from this job. It proved to be a lucky break.

He had to find another position that would not require traveling or physical exertion. He had taken piano lessons for six months and this musical background, combined with his personal salesmanship, was responsible for his securing a job as a pianist in a music publishing house. One night, a Boston radio station found that it had some open time and began a frantic search for someone to "fill in." The manager of the station knew Carl and he was ushered to the station in a hurry. Thus Carl made his radio debut. Missed Her Hubby MIDLAND, Aug.

(6) All requests for extension or renewal must be reevaluated according to urgency of need. The order is part of the effort to tighten operating expenditures in the City Hospital, Dr. Conlin said.

"It has been the practice in this hospital to assign special nurses paid from city funds for necessary emergency care of patients where life was en dangered," he pointed out. This practice has been ex panded to the point where it is now a budget item, costing more than a half million dol lars 9 year. "There have been demon-trable abuses of this basically necessary aid to proper patient care." Nurses now work in all hospitals on an eight-hou" shift, and the rate recently was raised to $18 a shift.
