Congratulations Heartily Deserved Due hearty congratulations today are members of the congregation of the Seventh and Main Baptist church on the occasion of the formal opening of their new church home. The building of an edifice of this kind does not come about without planning, work and cooperative spirit.

The opening of this new church, which incorporates all the modern features for buildings of worship, comes only a little more than a year after the members organized and established a congregation identity. In its modern new home the Seventh and Main Baptist church becomes a permanent and definite unit in Bonham's strong religious life, providing another impressive facility for training and teaching, another community asset to which Bonham can point with pride. Driver Training Benefits Proved Prospects are very good that a new and important course will be added to the teaching and training curriculum of Bonham high school during the coming year, and Supt. C. H.

Dillehay and the school board to be commended for their interest in making it available to young men and women whose lives could and surely would be affected beneficially in the years ahead. The course is automobile driver training. It enough anymore to turn a youngster loose to learn to drive on his own. The automobile has become the country's most dangerous weapon. Traffic fatalities are increasing by the year as more peopie own and drive automobiles on increasingly congested highways, a grim reminder that this matter of training younq people from the start to drive properly and safely, to impress upon them the lethal power of the Automobile, is not something to be taken lightly.

Most of us learned to drive in our day behind the wheel of a Model-T, steering it down the middle of the road at a snail's pace and having little in the way of traffic to concern us. We seldom ever heard of such a thing as a traffic fatality. We learn to drive the right way in our time for modern day highways and faster automobiles, but in those days it didn't seem important. But the day has come when it is important. The value of driver training has been proved.

It not only teaches a youngster control and confidence at the wheel, but it goes into the mechanics of an automobile to emphasize the power that is under the hood. It teaches courtesy, the absence of which is too often causing accidents and deaths. It emphasizes individual responsibilities, not only in protecting the driver's own life but the responsibility toward others who use the highways. spending money into the millions to train and develop the minds and thinking of young men and women, to prepare them for life's vocation and profession. Too many of them are never reaching the place of practicing that vocation or profession their lives cut short by death on public highways because they were not prepared adequately for handling an automobile or because someone else was not so prepared.

Dr! er training is becoming universally accepted into public schools. We heard a highway patrol officer in a neighboring state say a few days ago that his department could find no record of a highway accident fatality in that state in which a person who had completed the dri ver course satisfactorily had been involved as a driver. a pretty good recommendation for driver training.
