A. F. of today told the Legislative committee on Municipal Finance. Members of the local urged favorable action by the committee on a proposal to provide an approximate $700 increase for Boston firemen after three years of service, provided the legislation is approved by the voters.

Martin E. Pierce. Boston fireman, said that 2200 Boston firemen are receiving sub-standard salaries. Last pay increase was in July, 1949, he said, at which, time a $300 raise was granted to those receiving less than $3500. It was stated that a laborer in Bofcton receives $50.25 for a 40-hour week, while firemen have $62 for 48 hours.
