Casey, former pastor in Jamaica Plain. area. DANVERS Continued from the First Page Meanwhile, the FBI, moving swiftly toward a complete solution of the Danvers robbery, planned to question convict brother of Gearge D. O'Brien. Charles has a long criminal record in Massachusetts and served a lengthy sentence in State Prison here, starting back in 1932 for armed robbery, breaking and entering, felonious assault and larceny.

He was nabbed in Providence last May with another Greater Boston ex while the pair was allegedly plotting a series of armed robberies, and in July was found guilty in Providence Superior Court on a charge of carrying concealed weapons. Due to be quizzed was Charles L. O'Brien, 42, formerly of Linden Dorcester, now serving a four-and-a-half-year sentence in Rhode Island State Prison at Howard. Charles was in Norfolk Prison Colony on 1952, the date of the Danvers robbery, but investigators said he was always in close touch with those engaged in criminal activity on the outside. Charles' record for breaking and entering and larceny was so bad that at the time of his arrest in Providence Massachusetts State Police detectives questioned him at great ler.

'h in connection with the murder in Brookline last M.rch 30 of Herman I. Glassman. Meanwhile, the FBI was said to be hot on the heels of at least two additional known suspects in the Danvers robbery and rests were anticinated within a short time. These arrests, it is believed, may lead to an eventual soletion of the fabulous $1,219,000 Brink's robbery as well as that at Danvers. From the continuing threeyear surveillance under which O'Brien and other ex-convicts have been kept the PisS knows the identities of all of the Wollaston man's associates, and several of them are prime Brink's robbery suspects.

At least two of O'Brien's friends were key witnesses at last year's Federal Grand Jury investigating of the Brink's case. The government failed to produce any indictments when the Federal investigative body concluded hearing testimony last January, because of lack of evidence which was the result of the reluctance of witnesses. When it failed to get indictments by last Jan. 17-the third anniversary of the Brink's case -the government, because of the statute of limitations, lost its chance to prosecute the Brink's bandits on the principal charge of armed robbery. The case has never been closed, however, because arrests and prosecution can still be effected against the principals and accessories on charges of receipt of stolen money, concealment of a felony and perjury.

Having driven a significant wedge into the case with the ensnaring of O'Brien, the FBI now hopes to nail suspected members of the Brink's gang whom they lost January. Meanwhile, Police Chief Raymond Kirwin of Danvers, where the huge armored-truck robbery occurred on March 25, 1952, planned today to confer with Essex County Dist. Atty. Hugh A. Cregg on whether an armed robbery complaint should be brought against O'Brien in the county court.

The Danvers chief explained that since only about $17,000 of the $681.700 was in Federal Reserve funds, the United States Attorney's office can prosecute the Wollaston man only for that amount. Bill Asks Housing for Road Evictees The State Housing Board would spend up to $1,000,000 for housing for persons approaches whose to the homes Mystic are River taken Bridge, under a bill filed today by Representative Harry Coltun, of Chelsea. DINNEEN Serial numbers of bills in the A trap that was set for the Thanksgiving and caught robbers, snapped on a suspect in the Danvers holdup. Months of planning by the FBI paid off. This is not the only trap nor the only kind of trap the FBI has devised. The question in the minds of those who think they know what has been going on is whether the fact that George Douglas O'Brien of Quincy, his wife and his M. I.

T. son were caught, will warn others. How many such traps there are is not revealed. This one worked and there is a prospect that others will also work. It's only a matter of time.

The arrest of O'Brien is expected to to at least three more arrests; two of them in other states. Early the investigation of the Brink's holdup it was pointed that all ex-convicts experienced in armed robberies had been screened by the FBI and they were placed under constant surveillance. State and city detectives and FBI were looking for a sudden splurge and it did not come. The number of those who were constantly watched was, in time, whittled down. Some were eliminated by subsequent offenses of a period of almost four years, a few died and others were dropped because of circumstances that made it clear they could have had nothing to do either with the Brink's or Danvers robberies.

40 Still Under Suspicion convicts Today there roughly 40 whom Federal authorities suspect and are watching. George Douglas O'Brien was one of them. When he spent $22,000 for a house in a neighborhood far superior to the one which his family was living $5700 for automobiles with no record or other valid insuch payment, FBI men came to the obvious conclusion. Cenedella Plans to "Invite" Teto to Jury Hearing FITCHBURG, Nov. 27 (AP)Worcester County Dist.

Atty. Alfred B. Cenedella said today he will "invite rather than summon" William H. Teto to appear before the county Grand Jury now sitting in special session on other matters. Teto told a crowded Federal court while room in Boston eight days ago testifying before Senator McCarthy that he had been a volunteer informant for the FBI while a member of the Communist Party.

Eeto said Reds had infiltrated General Electric plants in in Fitchburg, Massachusetts Lynn and Everett and at Schenectady, N. Y. Cenedella told the Fitchburg Sentinel he had received a letter from the McCarthy committee which "neither approved nor disapproved" Cenedella's proposal to hail Teto before the Grand Jury. The "however, District Attorney added, I'm hopeful he will appear. He has been very cooperative." He did not elaborate.

Cenedella said the McCarthy committee had forwarded to him a transcript of Teto's testimony, both public and private. Cenedella said that if Teto did not appear before the present Grand Jury he would ask him to testify before the regular term of the next Grand Jury which sits in January. Teto is at home in nearby Ashby where he spent the Thanksgiving holiday with his family after appearing before the Massachusetts Legislative Commission Comsession the State House Bosmunism which sat in 688 executive ton Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Attrac. reas, Brink's case had been published. Serial numbers on the Danvers money were withheld, circulated to banks only. It took 10 months from the first report of a splurge of money on the part of O'Brien to the appearance of the first identifable bill. It is unfortunate that the painstaking investigation of the FBI the Brink's case should go for so long unobserved.

The agency began, for example, with a constant observation of 93 known criminals, all of whom had served time in New England jails; all of them at large on the night of Can, 17, 1950, and each with an opportunity to commit the crime. In four years the 93 suspects have been reduced to 44. State or city police could not do a job of that kind. The FBI had the manpower. Entitled to Day in Court It is unfair to George Douglas O'Brien to assume that he is stands charged with participation in the Danvers holdup.

The evidence against him is reported, but he still is entitled to have his day in court without prejudice on the part of those from whom a jury must be It is obviously unfair to assume Mrs. O'Brien or his son are of receiving stolen money. They are merely charged with it. From what can be learned O'Brien's old neighborhood in Dorchester, there are indications that the motivation behind his buying a new house, new cars and is getting into a better neighborhood one common to many households. He bought the house last February, but FBI agents bided their time.

They had a capable assistant in druggist Arthur L. McGilvray. It appears go be a fact that the FBI was under the impression that O'Brien was involved in the Brink's case, and felt sure they would crack it when he stepped into the trap. O'Brien had served time in pail with one of the chief suspects in the Brink's case: but he did not emerge as a prime suspect himself until a month after the Grand Jury investigating the Brink's holdup had brought in its report. Opinion now is that the trap caught a suspect in different case.

The serial-numbered bills indicate that O'Brien had nothing to do with Brink's. He is suspect in the Danvers case only. 13 Held in Robbery of Braintree Man QUINCY, Nov. 27-Three South Shore men were held in $10,000 each for the Norfolk Grand Jury in the Quincy District Court today for the beating and robbery of a Braintree man.
