published in response tri I call NEW YORK. Oct. 20 (AP) The Solomn R. Guggenheim Museum, one of the most controversial buildings ever to rise in New York, will be opened to the public tomorrow. It is the work of the late Frank Lloyd Wright.

The building on upper Fifth sv. produced dispute almost from the outset. Opponents of Wright's daring design derided the museum building, which features a continuous ramp that spirals from the first to the sixth story. Cylindrical in shape, it has been described by New Yorkers in terms ranging from a hot-cross bun to a washing machine. Champions of Wright's work defended the ultra-modern structure.

The world-renowned and often outspoken architect envisioned the museum as "a little temple in a park." "For the first time," he said, "art will be seen as if through an open window and, of all places, in New York. It astounds me!" i museum occupies the! entire block-front on Fifth av.l from 88th to 89th st. It took four years to acquire the and it took five more years before ground was broken. Then there was a protracted interchange of ideas between Wright and New York City's department of buildings. The department would not approve the plans.

Wright was adamant. The differences were settled in 1956. Construction started that August. v-uniiMiuiier oi ine Lurrenrv nnricr tin CASH FOR PIANOS UPRIGHTS and Brands. RI 2-0440.

Merchants Correct Attest: "Cnance COMPANY THOMAS BFAf, AUTO SHOW Continued jrom the First Page A press preview last night amply showed the wonders the automotive engineers can produce. There are cars that are sleek, and some that are not. Some are fast, and some are not. Some are expensive, and some are not. Some are made to get you there, and back, cheaply, others will take you there and back in style.

The motorist can have slyle, economy, speed. He can be different, with a vehicle he's rot likely to see on the other side of the street. Or he can go along with the boys and have the same thing. The show offers a Sir Vival car, ringed with rubber, that offers almost guaranteed safety. There is an Aerocar in which you can fly to the next city, then drive, without Changing vehicles, to your final destination.

There are Auto test units which will show how good, or how bad a driver you are. And you can view movies of many famous road races. WILLIAM CLAFLIN WILLIAM B. SNOW Directors.
