He was regarded as one of the world's outstanding philosophers. Born in Berlin, Germany, where his father was a medical student, Dr. Lovejoy spent his early years in Germantown, Pa. He attended the University of California, Harvard and the Sorbonne, Paris. While at Harvard, Dr.

Love-joy studied under such noted philosophers as William James, George Santayana and Josiah Royce. He received his A.B. degree from the University of Cali- Dorothy S. Grimm Services in N.Y. Services for Mrs.

iTwo, which already have been pub lished, are "Reflection on Hu man Nature, based on a series of lectures he gave at Swarthmore College in 1941, and "The Reason, the Understanding and the based on lectures given at Princeton in 1939.
