NORTHS, 'Mr. and Mrs. north' Hove Their Mystery Comedy Series to UUP "Mr. and Mrs. North," radio mystery comedy based on the character, created by Frances and Richard Lockridge, comes to CBS Tuesday, July 1, with Joseph Curtin and Alice Frost in the title roles as a pair of oft reluctant amateur de tectives whose thrills are leavened with chuckles (8.30 8.55 p.

EDT). Jerrv North, book publisher, nnrtraved bv Curtin. and his wife, Pamela, played by Miss Frost, live in New York's Greenwich Village. The cheerful banter of the Norths and the peculiar quirks of the colorful personalities who wander in and out of their investigations add a gen erous sprinkling of laughter to the serious business at hand. In their approach to any given crime, Jerry and Pam differ, Jerry progresses methodically, carefully assembling his facts with a purposefulness that cannot be sidetracked, except possi bly by the close approach of well shaped ankle.

Pamela, on the other hand, op erates by intuition, which often enables her to cover ground a great deal faster than the spouse While he carefully builds a case, figuratively plodding up the hills and down the valleys of evidence, Pam is more likely to skip from crag to crag. Occasionally she misses her mental footing, often her reasoning seems infan tile or worse, but as often as not it is some shred of seemingly unimportant evidence turned up by Pam, or some product of her feminine imagination, that serves ss the key to the whole mystery.
