The team broke up in 1949 when Shean passed away. A Marine veteran of World War II, he specialized in writing songs for Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. He won the Western Motion Picture Award as the best Western song writer in 1946. Memorial week will be served at the home of his sister, Mrs. Irene Sheffer, 35 Burns Quincy.

He also leaves his father, Julius of Miami Beach, and two brothers, Harry Brookline and Samuel of Waltham.
