Relatives and friends are invited to at- tmd tsrvkti on Wedntiday at Bobby Fischer wins a game REYKJAVIK, Iceland (AP) Bobby Fischer was back in the running for the world chess championship today, and it appeared that the fourth game might start this afternoon without the turmoil that has kept the match on the world's front pages for nearly two weeks. The 29-year-old American chess whiz won his first game ever from world titleholder Boris Spassky on Monday and now trails the Russian 2-1 in their 24-game match. In seven previous meetings, Fischer lost five times and two were draws. Spassky was at the chess board alone Monday when the third game resumed after the overnight adjournment, and referee Lothar Schmid opened Fischer's sealed 41st move, left with him the night before.

It was bishop to queen six, and it put the champion's king in check. Spassky sat for five minutes, turned his king on its side to concede defeat, and left the stage as the audience sat silent. A few minutes later, Fischer arrived to mixed boos and cheers, He stayed only two minutes. For the first time since the match was supposed to start on July 9, there was no overnight barrage of protests or com- sbout the srrniycnicrjts threats from Fischer to quit the match and frantic negotiations between officials of the various chess federations and representatives of the players. The fourth game was scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

EOT today, with Fischer having the first move. International grandmaster Isaac Kashdan, analyzing the match for The Associated Press, said the 29-year-old American's play Sunday "was the kind of game expected of Fischer after his extraordinary successes of the last two years." Spassky "seemed to lack any aggressive ideas," Kashdan commented. Fischer lost the first game of the match last week, and the second was awarded to Spassky by forfeit when the American refused to play because of the presence of three movie cameras in the hall. The first part of the third game was played Sunday at Fischer's insistence in a private room, with the audience watching on closed circuit television. The game was moved back to the main hall of the sports palace Monday when Spassky said he would not play in the private room, and Fischer made no objection.

On organized crime Sinatra testimony due in Washington WASHINGTON A Frank Sinatra has promised to appear today before a House Select Crime Committee hearing nn allfigpri mobster interests in a New England racetrack. The crooner and actor, however, demanded that cameras and microphones be banned at the hearing, invoking a seldom- used House rule permitting a subpoenaed witness to prohibit either picture-taking or television-radio broadcasting of his testimony. Chairman Claude Pepper, D- said the committee wants to ask Sinatra about alleged Cosa Nostra money in Berkshire Downs when he was an officer of the track and whether mobsters tried to "use him as a front." At the same time, Pepper said, Sinatra asked for and was promised an opportunity to deny the allegation of a self-described onetime gangster enforcer that Sinatra had been front man for mob money in the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach and the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. Sinatra ignored a scheduled appearance before the House committee June 8 and flew to London to watch a horse race, among other things. Sinatra was a vice president and director of Berkshire Downs near Springfield, in 1963.

Pepper said his committee has evidence that now- imprisoned Cosa Nostra boss Raymond Patriarca and under- 1:30 P.M. Interment in Lorraine Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. Jy-18 boss Gennaro Angiulo had hidden money in the now-defunct ractrack during that year. Joseph (The Baron) Barboza, calling himself a onetime Patriarca gunman, told the committee May 24 that Patriarca had unspecified hidden money in Berkshire Downs.

Barboza also charged Sinatra "fronted money--for Patriarca and Angiulo in the Fontanebleu and Sands hotels. The Fontanebleu in Miami Beach denied Barboza's story. The Sands ignored it. Barboza said under questioning he did not know firsthand that Sinatra had fronted for the gangster money but said he had been told that by four Cosa Nostra family members including Patriarca. Soviets OK technical pact LONDON (AP) The Occidental Petroleum Co.

Informants in London estimated the value of the contract as high as S3 billion and said it was the biggest ever signed by a U.S. corporation with the Soviets. Dr. Armand Hammer, the 72- year-old chairman of Occidental, told a news conference the agreement was signed in Moscow on July 14.

He said it covers a five-year period and is renewable by mutual consent. JOY A FASH ION SHOW WITH YOUR LUNCH WEDNESDAYS (it (jfortje lifts Harbour House I'llll IOHOHN I MOUM.MI.
