U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes accepted the plea on the second day of Minns' trial in the matter.

He faces up to 40 years in prison and fines of up to $2.5 million when he is sentenced on Nov. 14. Bert Issacs, an assistant U.S. attorney, said federal prosecutors would meet to decide on a sentencing recommendation to be presented to Hughes. Defense attorneys for Minns have maintained Minns was striving for privacy and did not have any criminal intent when he obtained the passports.

Four men were convicted and sent to prison on charges stemming from the shooting, but Minns was never charged in the attack.

Piotrowski, believing her ex-lover masterminded the attack, filed a lawsuit against Minns and won a $32 million judgment. She has never collected any of the money from the judgment, which I It 5.
