Hudson to teach soldiers how to survive By Daniel Borunda El Paso Times Vice detectives acting on an anonymous tip recently found three teenage girls stripping in El Paso clubs in addition to one found in March, police said Thursday. Of the four girls, three were found at the Naked Harem, 6345 Alameda, police said. Another was found at an undisclosed club.

Police would not say how some of the girls were found because the investigation is continuing. The girls are 15 or 16 years old. "Hopefully, we are not just scratching the tip of the iceberg," Police Chief Carlos Leon said at a news conference with District Attorney Jaime Esparza and anti-pornography activist Roger O'Dell. Police asked anyone with information on minors working at adult establishments to call police. No arrests have been made.

That drew the ire of the Naked Harem's lawyer, Michael Roy Gibson. "Nobody has been arrested, and nobody has been charged, and they are holding a big press conference asking for the public's help. That tells me they are incompetent," said Gibson, who argued that police were at-, tempting to try the case in the press. "I have held the city off for 17 years for unconstitutionally trying to put all the adult clubs out of business. If they have a case, bring it," Gibson said.

He added that the club checks identifications and ages of all people hired. Officials countered that the case is about child exploitation, not about the constitutionality of strip clubs. "The sexual exploitation of the children of this community is something we certainly won't tolerate," Esparza said. May 18, an anonymous tip led police to a 15-year-old girl stripping at the Naked Harem, a court affidavit said. The girl had a Texas identification card belonging to an 18-year-old woman who was 4 inches taller.

The girl danced nude, performed lap dances and earned about $300 a night, she said in the affidavit, in which she named club managers. "Our main focus is the exploitation of the child," Lt. David Norman of the vice unit said. "I'd like to thank God for still being here, and my wife, who supports me," Hudson told about 40 people.

"I know my previous experience will help me in the future to train other soldiers. I thank everyone for attending, especially my 507th soldiers for coming. Hoo-ah!" Fort Bliss commander Maj. Gen. He scared the hell out of me already; I'm hoping he doesn't do it again." Hudson was captured by Iraqi forces along with five other 507th soldiers during a March 23 ambush near Nasiriyah. Please see Coliseum 2A By David Crowder El Paso Times A 7-year-old roof problem at the El Paso County Coliseum that was left unaddressed when county officials approved a $6.7 million renovation project will now cost up to $1.4 million more to correct.

The County Commissioners Court could decide Monday Associated Press AUSTIN Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn boosted her revenue estimate Thursday for the coming two-year budget cycle by $604 million, attributing the increase to new federal money coming into the state. Even though Strayhorn adjusted downward the franchise tax component of her estimate by whether to have the contractor in charge of the renovation, Urban Associates, replace the roof or to seek competitive bids. In either case, construction on a new roof expected to cost as much as $1.4 million would hammered out an agreement on the state's $118 billion budget and began making plans to use the new federal money.
