Janet was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 20, 1922. She attended Fernwood Grade School. She was a member of the Eighth-Grade Girls' Club and remained lifetime friends with the members. She graduated with honors from Bay View High School. After high school she worked for a summer and fall at the Bishop's Lodge and at the State Capitol in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

She returned to Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin. During World War Il she supervised the construction of periscopes at Allis Chalmers. After the war she attended Columbia University on a scholarship from the American Red Cross where she earned her masters degree in social work. After graduation, Janet worked for the Red Cross at various Army posts throughout the States and also worked for two years in Trieste, Italy. Upon, returning to was station manager for the Red Cross at William Beaumont Hospital where she met her future husband, Dr.

S. Leight Avner, while discussing a patient's case. She began corresponding with Leight after she was transferred to another post. They were married after many letters and only two dates. They settled in El Paso, Texas.

Janet served the community through many organizations. She was President of the Board for the University Civic Ballet, board member of the YWCA, and the League of Women Voters. She organized and was the first president of the Monterey Park Association. In her sixties, she was diagnosed with macular degeneration, but she continued to be active in the community in spite of her failing eyesight. She worked as station chairman for the Red Cross at Fort Bliss and she lates received the FOR YOUR INFORMATION Monday through Saturday.

She is survived by her daughter and sonin-law, Ann and Tim Geib, brother-in-law and his wife, Clyde and Shirlene Jones, nephew, wife, and grandnephew, Tom, Char, and Christopher Jones, nephew and his wife, Robert and Gail Jones, long-time friend and caregiver, Micaela Sanchez, and Janet's faithful poodle Sofia Lorena. The family wishes to thank all of Janet's many friends who, during the last few years, helped her keep doing all the things she loved to do when she was no longer able to drive.

We especially want to thank Micaela Sanchez, who assisted Janet every day to a live a full and wonderful life. Janet, we will always miss you, always love you, and always be grateful that you were part of our lives. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of El Paso, Reverend Rebecca Whitaker officiating. Charlotte Brooks was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin and later moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she met her first husband Robert L. Williams. She and Robert moved to El Paso where they raised three children and started the furniture store that bears her name.

She was known nationally as leading interior designer and Charlotte's Furniture Store is still regarded as one of the premier furniture stores in the Southwest. In 1980 she married Fred Korth, former Secretary of the U.S. Navy. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert L. Williams and her second husband, Fred Korth; her sister Betty Miller, her brothers, Lewis, Edward and Robert Brooks and her son-law Pat F.

O'Rourke. She is survived by her children, Patricia Williams, Melissa O' 'Rourke and Brooks Williams; her grandchildren, Robert F. O'Rourke, Charlotte O'Rourke Bonnie Williams and Erin O'Rourke, and her brother-in-law Dorr Miller. Resier IMANWARREN C.LARK. MANWARREN, resident of Abilene, Texas, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 8, 2003. He had lived in the El Paso, Texas area from 1965 until 2002. Born November 2, 1934, in Alamosa, CO, he was the son of the late William G. and Eunice Manwarren.

He married Carol Carothers on April 5, 1958 in Farmington, NM. Mr. Manwarren graduated in the Class of 1953 of Farmington High School in Farmington, NM, where he was a member of the football team and was the first student of that school to be named as an all-state football player. He graduated from the University of New Mexico where he received the Bachelor of Business Administration degree and where he also played football on a full scholarship. Mr.

Manwarren was employed from 1958 until his retirement in 1993, by the El Paso Natural Gas Company where he served as Director of Human Resources for many years. From 1965 until 2002, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of El Paso, serving on various church committees and as Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Abilene. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; a son, Dr. Matthew Manwarren of Ander son, daughter and sonin-law, Ashley and Darrell Roy of Abilene, TX; two grandchildren, Nicholas Tay.

Russ will be missed by his family and many friends who knew and loved him.

Russ was a sincere family man whose love for gardening was surpassed only by his deep love for his family. His heart seemed to sing when he was with his family and his song was his giant genuine smile. Russ believed that one of the best decisions he made early in his life was to join the military. He served in the U.S. Army for 19 years, using his keen mechanic senses and hardwork ethics to keep the Army on the move.

His military assignments included tours in Germany and along the Czech border, as well as several stateside assignments including Fort Bliss. His military awards included Army Commendation Medal (3rd a ward), Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), Good Conduct Medal (6th award), and also expert badges in rifle, pistol and grenade. Russ's love for serving his country continued beyond his military career. Before leaving us, he was an employee with the Border Patrol serving as the warehouse supervisor in Flight Operations. Russ is survived by his loving wife, Marcia, daughter Rebecca, son Steven, son Benjamin, father Harold Hall, mother Leona Jean Hall, step-father John Hall, brother Brad, Sister Michelle, sister Tracy, stepson Craig, stepdaughter Carrie and several nephews, nieces and other family relations.

During her formative years, she attended San Marcas Military Academy where she met her future husband and life long companion, Ishmael Mayo McDow (deceased). She furthered her education at the Dominican College of Louisiana where she majored in Home Economics.

Francis Mayo were married in 1944 and would have celebrated 58 years together. They raised three boys, Mayo, Ishmael Mayo Jr. and Thomas Shelly McDow. Francis also had four grandchildren Tony, Amber, Ashley and Alex as well as two sisters and two brothers Madeline, Farah, Anthony and Gasper. As a long time resident of El Paso, Francis and Mayo continued the family business.

The Rio Grande Pharmacy in downtown El Paso founded in 1910 by Mayo's father. The business survived 85 years closing its doors in 1995. Francis was an avid golfer throughout the years and had a handicap of 13. She was a regular participant in tournaments held at the El Paso and Juarez Country Clubs where she won numerous championship matches. Inter- SERVICES IN THE AREA EGUIARTEJACOBO Maria "Chata" Eguiarte Jacobo passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2003, in El Paso, Texas. She was born on April 29, 1908 in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico to Carlos Eguiarte and Cirila Jacobo Eguiarte. Miss Eguiarte is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Cirila Eguiarte, her brother Arturo Atayde and her sister Dolores Eguiarte Noguera. She is survived by her sister Raquel Eguiarte Vigil Dwyer and by ten nephews and nieces, Arturo Atayde and wife Rose, Alberto Atayde, Cristina ViSalas and husband Rafael, Dolores Noguera Gresham and husband Will, Roberta Noguera, Michael Noguera and wife Barbara, Elizabeth Noguera Schanding and husband Clarence, Theresa Noguera Nolan and husband John, Victor Noguera, and Jacqueline Noguera. She is also survived by seven great- nephews and nieces.

Miss Eguiarte was retired after more than forty years of service as a dental assistant to Dr. Michael Prensky. A light has gone out in our family and in our family of friends. Her love, devotion, cheerfulness and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her and by those whose lives she touched. Miss Eguiarte will lie in state Friday from 5:00 p.m.
