BASBALZr-INO LACBOSSE GOLF TORT -LAWN BOWUNO MAINMAST WINNER OYER FAST LION D'OR LOWERS THE RECORD FOR SIX FURLONGS Spectacular Duel Between Row Standard Bearer and F. Wnitney Crack, Who Wins Four Race in Row Aunt Lin Scores for Gorman Stable.

Mainmast, by Superman-Masthead, broke the track record at Connaught Park yesterday for six furlongs, chalked up his fourth straight victory, and incidentally defeated Lion d'Or, one of the fastest sprinters in America. The defeat of the Ross color bearer was a big blow to the talent and marked the initial victory of the Whitney colors at the meet. This race, the Whiriaway handicap it was called, was aptly named. The old record set by Sailing B. of 1.13 flat was the target that the four competing horses shot at.

They went the half in .47 8-5 and fairly burnt oil through the stretch run. Mainmast was taken behind the pace set by Lion d'Or, and Parrington drew up in the last furlong. For 50 yards the two horses raced like a team and Mainmast, increasing his stride, showed the benefit of the 13 pounds in his favor and won by a head. Anns Lin Victor. Th crowd of tha waek.
