An El Paso Time Tuesday. Nov. 18, 1997 COLUMNS Readers tell Ame divorced pareets should act like it 5SV Ann Landers Dear Ann Landers: Remember that voice of experience you always talk about? Well, here it is. I am writing about the divorced couple that wanted to take their two young children on a family vacation and asked what you thought about it. You said it was a great idea.

Sorry, Ann, you are wrong, wfcong, wrong. 'My parents divorced when I a child. We continued to go out to dinner together as well as take summer vacations as if we were a real family. I thought this meant my parents were working on getting back together. After all, they always got along so well when we were together.

sies seem real. No wonder I was shocked, depressed and totally unprepared when my father married another woman. Let's face it. When a child's parents are divorced, they are no longer one happy family, and they should not try to act like one. Been There and Done That in Florida Dear Florida: I bow to the superior wisdom of those who have had experience along these lines.

Divorced couples should be civil to one another but not so friendly that they give their children false hopes. I was clobbered by several readers who also had been there and done that. Pass the crow. I'll eat a generous portion. Dear Ann Landers: I hope you will print my letter and help me deliver an important message.

I left school at 15 because I got pregnant. By the time I was 18, 1 had given birth to two sons and put them up for adoption. At 22, 1 finally got my GED. By the age of 25, I was on my third marriage and had a baby girl. When my daughter was 3, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease and underwent radiation.

I lost 30 pounds. I also lost my My mother sends him thank-you notes for being bo good to me. He attends school recitals and parents' day events and sends me flowers for no reason. The point of all this is to tell your readers NEVER give up. No matter where you are or where you've been, there is always someplace left to go.

And going forward is the best option. Alive and 35 in N.C. Dear N.C: You are indeed a remarkable person and a true survivor. Your letter will surely encourage others who are faced with serious obstacles and having a tough time to bite the bullet and carry on. Thank you for all the people you have helped today.

husband. He left town and took my daughter with him. I was devastated. It took me almost a year to track him down and get my child back. I married my fourth husband, wasted four more years trying to make the marriage work and finally went back to college to get a bachelor 'a degree in biology.

I got a divorce and married husband No. 5. Soon after, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I also developed an anxiety disorder for which I continue to take medication. My car breaks down frequently, and I have only recently caught up paying the bills, but life is good.

My current husband is the most supportive, kind and generous man in the world. He is my friend, lover, car mechanic, plumber, electrician, appliance repairman and nurse. He is a wonderful father to my daughter, who adores him. My dog loves him, too. Children of divorced parents always harbor a secret desire to see them remarry.

I was no exception. All the family togetherness made these childhood fanta BRIDGE By Omar Sharif and Taiwan Hlrsch Write Ann Landers, El Paso Times, Creator's Syndicate, 5777 W. West expressed a conviction that the contract would be defeated. With nothing to guide declarer, the logical way to tackle trumps is to finesse the jack somewhere along the line. West's double, obviously based on strong trumps, consigned that idea to the garbage can.

Declarer won the opening diamond lead with the king, cashed the ace of diamonds for a spade discard then ruffed a diamond low. When the heart finesse succeeded, declarer continued with the ace of hearts and a heart ruff in hand. To complete the groundwork for an endplay, declarer cashed the ace of clubs and ace and 1611 Montana 544-3897 9530 Viscount 598-3630 Opening lead: jack of diamonds. That little word could provide declarer with a blueprint of the layout and a means to neutralize your tricks.

South's three clubs was a high reverse, showing a better-than-minimum opening bid. North was immediately interested in slam. But don't forget to help others and to share your possessions with them.

This too is like offering a sacrifice that pleases God Obey your leaders and do what they say. They are watching over you, and they must answer to God. So don't make them sad as they do their work. Make them happy. Otherwise, they won't be able to help you at all.

"What we have come to realize in the nine months 'Tots TV' has been on the air is that Spanish-speaking adults tune in simply because there aren't any bilingual adult shows available." Ken Ravitz, a Los Angeles-based consultant with Outreach Extensions, helped 'Tots TV" develop a large, bilingual interactive preschool website that provides parents with a media literacy guide, interactive online games and learning activities to help them shape their child's social and emotional development. "It's a good show, one of the few truly bilingual shows that we have right now on PBS," Ravitz said. Jodi Turner, the owner of Precious Care, showed a 'Tots TV' video to seven children, ages 3-5, at her East Side home day-care cen ter. "It's a real good program. It has a lot in it that is really good for children," Turner said.

"It kept their attention very well. They didn't seem to be distracted by other toys in the room and they weren't talking too much." Turner liked the built-in lessons that teach young children to differentiate between make belief and real life. She is convinced the Spanish-speaking puppet can help stimulate language development in some children. Diane Roberts, educational coordinator with Paragon Cable, described 'Tots TV' as a fun program for preschoolers that has been a big hit nationally. "It should be a big hit here because of the puppet who speaks Spanish," Roberts said.

"There are not that many good programs for children that age."
