Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Christie, of Courtenay, Vancouver Island, spent a week of vacation as guests of Mr. and Mr3.

F. B. Lyle. They came up the valley in their car, and owing to the Yale road on the prairie being flooded, they had to travel via Sumas City, Columbia Valley and Cultus Lake. The trip from Sumas to Chilliwack required four hours of travel.

Entry fee 25 cents. Everybody welcome. Proceeds for Church Guild. The ladies of the Baptist Church will hold a Rummage Sale in the Old Variety Store on Friday and Saturday June 29th and 30th. Part of proceeds for Prisoners' of War.

Donations may he left at the store Wednesday and Thursday pluvious to thesale. The Ladies' Aid of Atchelitz Presbyterian Mission will hold their annual' garden party at the home oT Mr. Angus MacDonald, Atchelitz, on Friday evening, July 6, at 8 o'clock. Admission, 10 cents. A good programme in store.

There will also be a sale of work. Atchelitz Women's Institute will hold a Red Cross tea at the home of Mrs. H. Walter (old Sydney Ford place), on Tuesday afternoon, June 26, beginning at 2.30. There will be a bread making contest for girls under 18 years, and for girls from 18 to 20 years; white or bread.

Admission, 10 cents. St. John's church annual garden 'party will be held on the evening of Friday, June 22, on the church grounds, commencing at 6 o'clock. There will be a table of mid summer white wear for sale. There will also be a fish pond and other garden party attractions.

Orchestra in attendance. Admission ten icenftj Children free. The great, throbbing, bleeding heart of France will be laid bare at the Imperial theatre, June 25th and 26th in Mme. Sarah Bernhardt's wonderful picture, "Mothers of France." It is hard to know just why this war picture makes such a great appeal to the heart of the patriotic, but it makes better soldiers of men and better mothers of women who see it. Keep June 29th for the Good Old Time Garden Party to be held on St.

Thomas' church grounds from 3 until 10 o'clock. Afternoon tea will be served, also supper from 5.30 to 7. Aunt Sally will be there. An American tennis tournament will be played, target shooting, lady with a thousand pockets, fortune telling, home cooking, in fact all kinds of fun. Don't miss it.

Gate admission 10 cents, children 5 cents. Tea and ice cream served at the Bil lets and Bullets Tea Room on Saturday afternoon and after the shows in the evening. That tragedy that is war and that slory that is courage, are the dominant notes of the great super war feature, "Mother of France." Most of it will be seen through a mdst of tears, because it reacts down to the pimple emotions stirred up by human suffering and up to the gretalur emotions which are the heritage of a courageous people.
