4D High Point Enterprise, Wednesday, September 22, 1976 Weatherly To Direct Holy Land Tour Dr Owen Weatherly, professor of religion and philosophy at High Poml College, will direct a tour of the Holy Lands, Athens and Jordan, leaving New York on Jan 17, 1977. Weatherly is accepting registrations for the tour at the college The trip will last nine days Owen Weatherly The tour will include visits to historical and Biblical sites connected with Jewish and i i a history Better-known stops include the i i of i Jerusalem, a a a a Beirut, Athens and Bethany Weatherly is known as an educator, minister, author and philosopher He has been with High Point College since 1964 He earned his Ph.D from the University of Chicago and has been pastor of churches in Richmond and i a i a He is a professional societies and is listed in the Directory of American Scnolars and in Who's Who in American Education During the three days of the tour spent in Jerusalem, the group will visit the Old City, St Stephen's Gate, the Pool of Bethesda, Pilate's Judgment Hall, Gethsemane Garden, the Upper Room and the Garden Tomb They will view the Qumran Cave area where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found as well as a collection of the scrolls Travel plans and accom modations for the fee include jet economy class, surface transportation, first class hotels in Jerusalem, meals and entrance fees to sightseeing stops Further information is available from Weatherly at the college Lake Junaluska Singers Set To Perform a a a Singers will appear in concert Friday at 8 in the High Point Theatre and Exhibition Center Glenn Draper The local appearance, one of the three the singing group is making this weekend, is sponsored by the Methodist i i Methodist Church.
