Huoson Street, Silver City, NM 88061 1-880-543-8378 Munfctoalltiee; Pino Alto, Santa Clara, Silver City, Tyrone ill American Newsday The readers and the leader of Inside Flyer magazine, have taken a hard look at 1995 and come up with some winners and losers, which are likely to affect 1996 travelers, as well. PublisherEditor Randy Petersen also predicts that one of this year's best new perks will come from American Airlines, which started the world's first frequent-flier plan in 1981. Since then, American has introduced a number of innovations, such as auctions that let frequent passengers trade some miles for hard-toget treats such aa Super Bowl tickets. What's next? American soon plans to launch a program that will award one mile for each dollar in interest you pay on your home mortgage (the airline hopes to announce details by the end of February, according to a spokesman). Some of Inside Flyer's readers' favorite deals primarily benefit elite-level passengers.

But any traveler might want to note its tops in '95 specials coming for members of its OnePass frequent-flier plan (watch for triple miles to new gateway cities). On the negative side, Petersen notes that many airlines have "adjusted their fine print" to include consolidator tickets in the category of fares that aren't eligible to earn mileage credit. Con-solidators pay rock-bottom rates for seats an airline doesn't expect to sell, then pass the savings to travelers. Their tickets usually don't carry the advance-purchase restrictions attached to most discounted fares. But they tend to come without some benefits of tickets bought from a full-service travel agent (consolidators typically won't help you plan your itinerary but merely quote fares to places you ask about).

Some travelers claimed that they had been assured of frequent-flier credit by consolidators, who get their name because they offer one-stop shopping for discounted seats on a number of airlines with which they have an ongoing relationship. ir Itimmiiii iinn ilftniiMirWiniirMtsMiiiilllisiiiia 7 Grant County Bayard, Buckhom, Cliff, Gila, Hurley, Mimbres, i.
