Tho executive committee is to consist of the officers of the Branch, the ministers of the different churches, the heads of temperance organizations, and ono other representative from each temperaneo society and church. Bishop Dart and Archdeacon Small were guests at St. Thomas' parsonage this week. Bishop Dart preached morning and evening Archdeacon Small read tho lessons and the Rev. W.Baugh Allen the prayers. The morning congregation was mainly composed of St.

Thomas' people; in tho eveuing many from other congregations were present. On Monday evening tho Bishop was "At Home" at St. Thomas' parsonage to tho congregation and their friends. A good programme was given duriug iho evening, and after a light luncheon all went to their homes, having spoilt a veiy happy time. Bishop Dart left for the east on Tuesday morning.

His Lordship will spend some time in the eastern provinces and will then proceed toEug land in the interests of the Episcopal endoument fund. Death of Wm. Prest. On Friday morning about six o'clock, one of Mr. Wm.

Prest's sons, going into his father's room, found him sitting dead in his chair. Tho deceased had been ill for some timo, buffering from dropsy, complicated by valular disease if the heart. He had suffered greatly md his death was not unexpected. Ho linally settled a score of years ago upon the farm near tho little mountain, where ho resided until the time of his death. Mr. Prest was a man of retiring disposition and very quiet character. Ho possessed the esteem and respect of all who knew him and regret at his decease is general and sincere. Chilliwack Invaded Last Thursday the twn was invaded by the Washington Marine Band, a musical organization belonging to the Salvation Army.

The band included ten per performers under Iho command of Adjutant Hay, aud has made a most successful tour from Spokane to the coast calling at all important places en routo. They gave two open air performances, aud a grand musical carnival In Henderson's Hall in the evening. The organization includes both brass nnd string bands, and gavo a highly interesting entertainment, but like all true Salvationists they never lost sight of their great busiuess of calling sinners to repentance. The musical selections were iniersporsed with fervent prayers and earnest exhortations. A Salvatiou Army meeting is seldom dull.

Grain and hay crops are all right. The threshing machine, owned by Collinsoo Sons, is doing the finest kind of work. While threshing at L. L. Chadsey'8 place they threshed about tons; 21 tons 17 15 lbs.

Miller, brother of D. Wi Miller, who has been visiting friends at Sumas, left for his home at Brighton, on the 3oth inst. Mr. Miller and his brother David visited the coast cities. A.Evans left here for Toronto to see the exhibition.

Mr. Evans expects to return by the Great Noilhern. One of our boys while at the Sume a landing was going through acrobat lo fents standing on his head, lost his pocketbook containing considerable money. One of the lads living in th vicinity found the treasure and safely returned it to tho owner. ii.

W. Chadsey is practicing for the fall bike races. Ho says he fully expects to puncture Mr. J. McCutcheon's tire or ho is a liar.
