TELEGRAPH JANUARY i 1941 OBITUARIES MOURNED V) If THURSDAY EVENTNG DR. JOHN F. DUNLAP Bishop Dunlap Is Dead at 75 InWilliamsport Retired Evangelical Church Prelate Once Headed Albright College Williamsport, Jan. 2. A heart attack proved fatal for Dr.

John F. Dunlap, 75, retired Bishop of the Evangelical Church and former president of Albright College. He died at his home here yesterday, two hours after stricken. Dr. Dunlap retired in 1934 after fifty three years in the ministry, twelve of which were spent as Bishop of the Pittsburgh Conference.

From 1909 to 1915 he was president of Albright. He also had served as superintendent of the Williamsport, Lewisburg and York districts of the Central Pennsylvania Conference. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at St. Paul's Evangelical Church here, with additional rites Saturday at 1.30 p. m.

in Trinity Church, York. Bishop John S. Stamm, of Harrisburg, senior bishop of the church, will officiate. Dr. Dunlap was a leading figure In negotiations which led to the merger of the United Evangelical and Evangelical Association denominations in 1922.

Bette Davis Bride of Childhood Friend Hollywood, Jan. 2 Principal topic of filmland gossip today was the surprise New Year's Eve marriage of Actress Bette Davis to a non professional, Arthur F.rns worth, of Boston. Few of Miss Davis' associates knew Farnsworth, although he visited the actress here a year ago. Her friends said she had known him since childhood days in Lowell, and that they renewed their friendship in 1939 when Miss Davis spent a vacation at Sugar Hill, N. where Farnsworth was assistant manager of a hotel.

LEON O. RUDD Leon O. Rudd, sales manager of the Capital Bedding Company, Fourteenth and Howard streets, for the past year and a half, died Monday at his home, 2703 Derry street. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, in Tampa, and had previously worked in the furniture business in Virginia and West Virginia. Surviving are his wife, Mrs.

Bess Rudd, this city; his mother, Mrs. Lenora E. Rudd, Farmville, three sisters, Mrs. Anna R. Crutcher, Chase City, Mrs.

F. A. Lowry, Farmville, and Mrs. James A. Hale, Pleasant Valley, and a brother, D.

M. Rudd, Richmond, Va. Services will be held in Huntingdon, V. Wa. Burial will be in Huntingdon Woodmere Cemetery, Friday.

JOHN H. MOSER John H. Moser, 513 Herman avenue, Lemoyne, died Wednesday at his home. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Moser; a son, John W.

Moser, Harrisburg; two sisters. Mrs. Bertha Brezler, and Miss Myrtle Moser, both of Waynesboro. Requiem mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9 a. St.

Theresa's Catholic Church, New Cumberland, with the Rev. Roy C. Keffer, rector, as celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Thomas Rites Funeral Rites Friday to Be Held Tomorrow Carlisle, Jan. 2. Services for the Rev. T. Babn Thomas, 76, of Boiling Springs, retired Lutheran minister, will be held at 1.30 p.

tomorrow in St. John's Lutheran Church, Boiling Springs. Burial will be at York. The Rev. Mr, Thomas died Tuesday afternoon at Carlisle Hospital after a two week's illness.

He was born in York September 2. 1864. attended school there and was graduated from Gettysburg College and Gettysburg Theolog ical Seminary. His last pastorate was at Boiling Springs, where he twice served St. John's Lutheran Church, 1910 to 1914 and 1922 and to 1934.

He retired in 1934. 'He was pastor of churches at York, Altoona, Harrisburg, Cham bersburg and Bristol and during the World War served as chaplain at a military post at Va. He was an active member of the Masonic fraternity, serving many years as chaplain of St. John's Lodge, No. 260, Carlisle.

He was also a member and held an ap pointive office in St. John's Royal Arch Chapter, No. 171, and St John's Commandery, No. 8, Knights Templar, Carlisle. He was a member and chaplain of Boiling Springs Post, No.

630, American Legion, since its organization. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. William M. Bucher, Boiling Springs, with whom he resided since retirement; two sisters, Mrs, Walter Green, Tampa, and Miss Cordia Thomas, Los Angeles two brothers, Edward and Wilbur, both of York, three grandchildren and a great grandchild. JOSEPH FOX Annville, Jan.

2. Joseph Fox, 74, died Monday at his home, West Annville, after having been confined to his bed several months. He was a native of Germany, but was a resident of the United States for 57 years. He had been a blacksmith here for many years, retiring several years ago. He is survived by his wife, Olivia, and two stepsons, Jacob Hartz of Ann ville, and Christian Good, of West Annville.

MRS. RICHARD SMITH Services for Mrs. Adda G. Smith, 52, wife of Richard Smith, 415 Reily street, who died at a hospital here Tuesday, will be held at 2 p. m.

Friday at the Musselman funeral home, 322 Hummel avenue, Lemoyne, with the Rev. Paul Breneman, Maclay Street Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in the Camp Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock tonight. Surviving are her husband and two daughters, Mrs.

Walter Miller and Mrs. Paul Albert, both of Harrisburg; a sister, Mrs. Alma Gordon, Wertzville, and five grandchildren. MRS. EMILIE BERGSTRESSER Mrs.

Emilie R. Bergstresser, widow of the Rev. Dr. Frederick L. Bergstresser, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs.

H. H. Leisman, 1722 Forster street. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Leisman 6 another daughter, Miss Katherine, same address; two brothers, Herman Hahn and Dr.

W. R. Walter, and a sister, Miss Matilda Hahn, all of Harrisburg, and two grandchildren. Services will be held at the Charles C. Baker funeral home, Third and Maclay streets, Friday at 2.30 p.

m. The Rev. Dr. Chester S. Simonton, Messiah Lutheran Church, of which she was a member, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Harrisburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tonight. MRS. H. NORA COLLINS Mrs.

H. Nora Collins, 81, died Wednesday at the Home, Fifth and Muench streets. She is survived by a granddaughter, Mrs. Harry White, of Harrisburg. She was a member of the Grace Methodist Church.

Services will be held from the Home at 2 p. m. Saturday with the Rev. Dr. Wilbur V.

Mallalieu, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the Home Friday night. MRS. MARY E.

HAIFLEIGH Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. Haifleigh, 97, oldest member of Messiah Lutheran Church, who died Tuesday at the home of her daughter Mrs. E. W.

Suydam, 36 South Harrisburg street, Steelton, will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at the Suydam home, the Rev. Dr. Chester S.

Simonton, Messiah Lutheran Church assisted by the Rev. H. A. Fifield, First Presbyterian Church, Steelton, officiating. Burial will be in the East Harrisburg Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p. m. at the residence. In addition to Mrs. Suydam, she is survived by two other daughters, Mrs.

Robert Gamble, Philadelphia, and Miss Caroline B. Haifleigh, Camp Hill. Four grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren also survive. She was the widow of Isaac Haifleigh. RALPH CLARENCE ZWEIZIG Ralph Clarence Zweizig, 40, 519 South Fourteenth street, a ma chinest with the Devine and Yun gel Shoe Manufacturing Company, died Wednesday in a hospital here.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Zweizig; a daughter, Miss Betty Jane Zweizig, and a son, Clarence Zweizig, both of Hamburg; the Rev. Charles B. Zweizig, Greensburg, and Stewart H. Kline, Harisburg and two sisters, Mrs.

Irene Becker, Harrisburg and Mrs. Grace Rarick, Or wigsburg. Services will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Burkey funeral home, Hamburg, with the Rev.

Rufus Kern, St. John's Lutheran Church, Hamburg, officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call at the Rich For Hanson S. Riegel Hanson S.

Riegel, 85, who served as chief engineer of the Central Iron and Steel Company for about thirty five years, died Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Miss Margaret E. Riegel, State College. He had lived in Harrisburg and New Cumberland at various times but in later years resided at State College. At the time he was with the old Central Iron Works the post he held was known as master me chanic; now known as chief en gineer. Alter the central iron Works and Paxton Rolling Mills were consolidated, he was retained as chief mechanic.

While in Harrisburg he was a member of Pine Street Presby terian Church. He is survived by his daughter, Miss Margaret E. Riegel, super visor of teachers in the home economics department of Pennsyl vania State College, two sons, Ross an engineer, connected with the TVA at Knoxville, and James Chicago, and a brother, William Harrisburg. Services will be held at 2 p. m.

Friday at the Hawkins funeral home, 1007 North Second street. Burial will be in the Harrisburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 and 9 tonight. JOSEPH F. ARNDT Annville, Jan.

2 Joseph Frank lin Arndt, a stone mason died Monday at his home, 45 South Lancaster street. He was 86. Death was due to infirmities of age. He is survived by a son, Harry of San four daughters, Mrs. Mary Elliot, Annville; Mrs.

Harry Rintz, near Lancaster; Mrs. George Good, Miners Village, and Mrs. Emery Miller, Lebanon. There are 36 grandchil dren and 34 great grandchildren. He was a member of the United Brethren Church.

GEORGE L. GRAVES Services for George Linwood Graves, 54, 2130 Moore street, paymaster of the Central Construction and Supply Company for twenty six years, who died at a hospital here Wednesday, will be held at 7 p. m. Friday, at the Charles C. Baker funeral home, Third and Maclay streets.

The Rev. Truman A. Crist, pastor of St. John's Reformed Church, will officiate and further services and burial will be Sunday at Richmond, Va. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday after 7 p.

m. He was past governor of the Loyal Order of Moose, No. 107, a member of the Star of Harris burg Lodge, No. 30, Shepherds of Bethlehem, and a native of Peters burg, Va. He is survived by one son, George B.

Graves; three daugh ters, Mrs. W. G. Redford, Mrs. Wil liam C.

Smith and Mrs. C. R. Carter, all of Richmond, two sisters, Mrs. George Johnson, Petersburg, and Mrs.

Lewis Gassar, of Richmond, also five grandchildren. WALTER H. GETKIN Walter H. Getkin, 53, 1432 North Third street, died today in a local hospital. He was an employe of the Miller Furniture Company and a member of Har risburg Lodge of Moose.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Ruth Youtzey, Harrisburg; two nieces, Mrs. Martha Wandel, Sunbury; Mrs. Alice Henry, Shamokin, and a nephew, Robert D. Gift, Sun bury.

Services will be held at the Charles C. Baker funeral home, Third and Maclay streets, Monday, at 1.30 p. m. Burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sun bury. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday after 7 p.

m. BLAKE A. THOMAS Blake A. Thomas, 61, died Wednesday at his home, 347 Boyd street. He was a blind man and had worked at the shop for the blind in this city for a number of years.

He was a member of Harrisburg Lodge of Moose. Surviving are a brother J. E. Thomas, Newport, and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Rodkey, Harrisburg.

Services will be held at 2 p. m. Friday the, Henry S. Fisher funeral home, 1334 North Second street, with the Rev. J.

F. Gross, Harris Street Evangelical Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Newport Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fisher funeral home between 7 and 9 tonight. MISS MAUDE H.

BOTHWELL 1 Miss Maude Helena Bothwell, 22 North Front street, Wormleysburg, died Wednesday at Polyclinic Hospital following a stroke at her home earlier in the day. She is survived by one brother, George Bothwell, Can Bernardino, and a sister, Mrs. Jessie Dailey, Santa Barbara, Cal. She was a member of St. Patrick's Cathedral.

MRS. JOSEPHINE DRAGOVIC Mrs. Josephine Dragovic, 45, widow of Vincent Dragovic, died Wednesday at her home 561 South Second street. Steelton. Survivors are sons, Joseph and Stephen at home; daughters Mary, Elizabeth, and Barbara at home, and mother, two brothers and four sisters in Europe.

She wr member of St. Anna's society. Requiem High Mass will brated at 9 a. m. Saturday in St.

Mary's Catholic Church, Steelton, by the Rev. Ambrose Misetic. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
