Edward Arnold, screen, star, ap pears in a radio adaptation of Dashiell Hammett's celebrated story, "The Maltese Falcon," on the Philip Morris Playhouse Fri day over WHP CBS from 9 to 9.30 p. m. The tale revolves around the ob ject of the title a valuable Mal tese falcon which is sought by many. The search for it brings about a succession of intriguers and counter intriguers leading to a thrilling climax. Arnold has had a distinguished and varied screen career, ranging from the colorful drama of "Dia mond Jim Brady" to comedy such as "You Can't Take It With You." Charles Martin directs the radio version.

Tommy Riggs Learns About Air Drills A pneumatic drill operating in front of Tommy Riggs' home will cause an uproar with uproarious consequences on the "Tommy Riggs and Betty Lou" broadcast Tuesday over WHP and the Columbia Network, at 9.00 p. m. Leaving a sizeable hole at the entrance to the driveway the workers go merrily on their next job, leaving Tommy to cope with the ire of his near neighbors, Manville Eucalyptus and Mrs. Wingate.

With Betty Lou and Bill Good win for moral support, Tommy will visit the City Hall to present his problem to the. street depart ment, whence he will be directed to the Office of the Mayor. As luck will have it, the Mayor for the day is Wilbur, adenoidal schoolmate of Betty Lou. A musical highlight of the show will be Jimmy Cash's ren dition of Irving Berlin's song hit, "Be Careful, it's my heart," with instrumental interpolations by Felix Mills' orchestra.
