Quackery on Hobby Lobby A physician who collects that were used by quack doctors as far back as the six teenth century, and an intrepid woman explorer who searched for and found the very rare giant panda will be among the guest stars on Dave Elman's "Hobby Lobby" program, Saturday over WHP CBS at 8.30 p. m. Dr. Leonard Hirshberg, of New York City, is the acknowledged authority on medical lore and the collector of the quack's stock in trade. Most fascinating items of his collection are the ancient odd gadgets used by quack doctors to cure any and every bodily ailment.

Dr. Hirshberg possesses over 50 talismans ranging from a pair of sacred ivory sandals to a mixture of fat of certain animals designed to cure anything from love sickness to baldness. This rare collection will be brought to the studio for analytical review before the microphone. Mrs. Ruth Harkness, of Syracuse, N.

wife of the late William Harkness, became inter ested in her hobby when she dis covered that hundreds of expedi ticns have been made and thou sands of dollars spent, in fruitless attempts at snaring the elusive panda. In 1936, without any perience in expeditions at all with no scientific knowledge to serve her in an emergency, Mrs Harkness set out for China in search of this rare animal.
