CALENDAR Sept 27: When officers approached two men in a ditch, the men ran away. They were stopped by the officers and taken into custody and appeared before a magistrate on charges of evading arrest, then booked into the county Jail. The man believes the burglars entered through an unlocked kitchen door. Criminal mischief.

She told police that she reported the theft to Juarez authorities She said the car has been seen on Doniphan in West El Paso. Vehicle theft, Cludad Juarez, Sept 26: A man said someone stole his car in Juarez. The man said the car had expired Texas license plates.

El Pasoans on list for Cisneros banquet Several El Pasoans are expected to attend a banquet next week in San Antonio honoring U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros. Student's support program gets grant An El Paso Community College program to help low-income students remain in college and graduate has received a $352,000 grant from the U.S. Department of The Program for Academic Student's Success has helped 600 disadvantaged, physically-handicapped and first-generation students, college officials said. Officers said the the door lock was damaged and the alarm lock had been broken. She was told to contact the Burglary Section for a follow-up investigation. Criminal trespass, 8600 block of Hopewefl, Sept 28: A woman told police she found a half-eaten hamburger and a package of catsup in her back yard. She said she also found some of her flower pots turned over.

She told police she is sure someone was in her back yard the night before. Theft 5000 btock of Garry Owen, Sept 28: A man said someone stole two letters from his mailbox. Theft of service. 7600 block of North Loop. Sept A fast-food restaurant employee told polioe a man and a woman ordered food, ate their meal and then refused to pay their bill.

The couple told police they could not pay their bill because they were broke. Officers issued citations for both the man and the woman, then released them. Criminal mischief, 900 block of Flredate, Sept A woman said her mailbox was pned open. She told police that other mailboxes tn their community mail station had been pned open. She said no mail was stolen.

today in Fort Bliaa National Man was retired customs assistant Adolfo Loera, a retired assistant director of U.S. Customs in the Southwest, died Monday (Sept. 27, 1993). He was 81. After retiring, he formed the Twin Plant Custom Consultants and Services, which provided a model of service for business between the United States and Mexico.

He also contributed to the founding and development of the Government Employees Credit Union in 1939 and served as its first treasurer and then-chairman of the board. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen Triolo Loera. Survivors include hi6 daughter, Carmen Fernandez; and hit ton, Paul A. Loera. Visitation will be from 4 to 9:30 p.m.
