THE WEATHER. ELSEWHERE WASHINGTON, Sept 24 (A. Hoover was very much heartened today by the action of the American Legion in refusing to request full payment of the bonus. It was said at the White House Mr Hoover was gratified, by the support given him by the Legion on that issue. There was no comment on the action of the veterans in calling for a referendum on the 18th amendment.

President Hoover, in an address before the Legion on Monday, warned that any further demands on the Federal Treasury at this time would result in, grave risks. Without referring to the bonus by name, Mr Hoover called on the Legion as an influential body of men to oppose determinedly all legislation involving large appropriations. Special 0 Boiton Globe.
