BAKER INC. BOSTON Dodge Bros pr Douglas Pectin. The Division of Metropolitan Planning today filed with the clerk of the Massachusetts House of Representatives a special report recommending In part the location of a new surface transfer station of the Boston Elevated system on Warren st, Allston, between Common wealth and Cambridge st, west of Harvard av. This recommendation Is part of a plan to provide rapid transit from Allston and Brighton through Cambridge and Somerville. The report states that the vacant lot at Warren st Is of sufficient area to provide not only for a terminal hut for the necessary storage of cars.

The rapid transit service In the Somerville District, the report says, can best be furnished by a rapid transit extension from Lechmere sl following the general route of the Southern Division of the Boston Maine Railroad to Somerville Junction, and then utilizing the Lexington Branch of that railroad to North Cambridge. Because of the purchase and development of the land near Somerville Junction which the dlvielon last year recommended be bought for a terminal station, and because of the local sentiment, the Planning Division now feels that It may wise to extend the rapid transit service beyond Somerville Junction to Davis sq and Massachusetts av, with a storage plant west of the Swift A Co 115 115 115 115 Texas Co. The kidnaping and slaying of the Socialist Deputy Matteottl, which caused auch a sensation early last year, was not premeditated hut the result of a spontaneous impulse of a number of hotheaded youths who sought to prevent him from participating In the sittings of th Chamber. This Is the finding of the Court of Review, which occupies more than two pages In this mornings newspapers. The finding holds five men for trial and liberates all the 25 others named in con ncction with the crime.

The five held are Amerigo Dumini, Albino VolpI, Giuseppe Viola, Amleto Poveromo and Augusto Malacrla. According to the Court of Review, these five men, exponents of extreme political measures, conceived the Idea of kidnaping Matteottl, but unfortunately the kidnaping resulted In homicide. The riview discredits the assertion, circulated at the time of the crime, of the existence of a Cheka, or political police, aimed at the enemies of Fascls-mo. The court repudiates a report that Filipelli and Naldi, two of the men released, were interested in the proposed oil concessions to the Sinclair Company, which Matteottl was about to oppose in the Chamber, of Deputies. The flrSt modern gasoline electrlo train over this route left Boston at 7:44 a m. It was scheduled to arrive at Northampton at 12:12 and to leave Northampton on the return trip at 3 arriving at North Station, Boston, at 7:13 m. This train Is one of the most modern of its type yet operated in New England and is the third to be put In service of 12 such trains purchased by the Boston 'Maine Railroad, at a cost of approximately $450,000. The company is contemplating purchasing from 30 to 40 more such units for replacing steam-operated trains, in order to improve transportation facilities and service on thinly-patronized lines and save In the costs of operation. Experienced steam railroad employes of the system are operating these trains.

The Northampton motorman Ls John K. Talbot, an old-time steam locomotive engineer, who In the past has operated on this line. George II. Page, a regular conductor of the line, ls conductor and Charles Le Clare ls baggage master, which was his position on the old steam trains. The first car Is the power unit and has a 15-foot baggage compartment, railway Postofflce and express matter facilities, besides room for 44 passengers In a smoking compartment.

The second car or auxiliary coach ls a modern one of de luxe design, with seats for 49 passengers. There are at present five such gasoline rail cars in operation on the B. M. System. The company has been operating several such uniits for a year or two while they were In the experimental stages, and today believes they have been reduced to a practical and economic basis.

This particular unit was built by the Electric Motor Company for heavy duty railroad service. The motor ls installed in the front end of the first car and has 175 horsepower and six cylinders. It is coupled directly to a 110-kltowatt and 700 volts electric generator, ar.d the current from this Is delivered to two high efficiency railroad type motors. The cars are of about the same dimensions as steam railroad coaches and look not unlike them. With a number of such units In service, the company is looking around for a suitable gasoline storage station handy to the yard, tvhere these units will be stored when not oa the road, where it will be easy to replenish them with gasoline and where it will be possible to store large supplies of gasoline bought at advantageous prices.
