August 12, 1944 Tm "Dlondie" and the Bumsteads Return To 17IIP Tomorrow flight at Eight "Blondie," one of America's favorite radio programs, complete with its cast of Penny Singleton, Arthur Lake, Hanley Stafford and Tommy Broadcasting System Sunday, August 13 (WHP, 8 to 8.30 p. Up to last June 26, when it went off the network temporarily, "Blondie" was heard on CBS Monday evenings. The show began its career, as a summer replacement program, in 1939, but today It is one of the top ranking comedy series, with the delightful Bumstead family occupying a cherished place the hearts ana homes of millions of listeners. Penny Singleton plays the title role, with Arthur Lake as hubby Dagwood.

Hanley Stafford is heard as J. C. Dithers, Dagwood's employer, and Tommy Cook plays Alexander, the young son of the Bumsteads. Elvia Allman, another featured member of the cast, is heard as Mrs. Dithers.

"Blondie" Is produced by Don Bernard, with scripts by Johnny Greene. Music is conducted by Billy Artzt, and Ken Niles announces. Frederic March, stage, screen and radio star, has been signed as guest of the "Frank Sinatra Program" Wednesday, August 16. when The Voice return to CBS after a vacation of eight weeks (WHP 9 to 9.30 p. The show format will be some' what different this year. Frank continues as master of ceremonies as well as star, but a female vocalist will be added.

There will be no comedian on the show, as there was last season. The Vimms Vocalists and Axel Stordahl's Or chestra continue as regulars. Sinatra is just completing his third starring motion picture, M's "Anchors Aweigh," in which he will be seen with Gene Kelly and Kathryn Grayson. On completion of the film, his radio program will move to New York, with Sinatra scheduled for a personal appearance at a Broadway movie house. Screen actress Jeanne Cagney comes to the CBS musical show "Here's to Romance," not to sine. as would be supposed, but to act in a dramatic skit with Jim Ameche, emcee announcer for the program, tonight on WHP at 7 o'clock.
