Writing. w. Martin." The disappearance of Martin on April 3 in London has been a "nine days' wonder." He arrived here from Memphis on a business trip early in February. On April 2 he told friends he was booked to depart for New Vork on April 5 on the France. On the night of Aprii 3 he played billiards with T.

Locknart Anderson, left the club in a taxicab at 11:10 baying he had an engagement with a woman, and that was the last seen of him. On the morning of April 4 a workman found Martin's opera hat and pocketbook on the Thames embankment. The purse contained a Cunard passage ticket to New York. A boy picked up on the embankment tht same day Martin's watch and chain, but teat it, William T. Burns, the American detective, nor Scotland Yard ever expressed the belief that Mr Martin was dead, ami Burns announced today that he bad abandoned the case because he had located the missing Memphian and was satisfied the rtjan was in no danger.

The Martin family have engaged a firm of London solicitors to act for them. Thomas J. Donovan of Dorchester, the HlKh School of Commerce football player and oarsman, has been named for West Point by Congressman James M. Curley. Donovan Is at present captain of the Commerce High crew. He is a popular senior and had he not accepted the appointment he would have I graduated in June.

Manufacturers of the fatal hammer notified the authorities today that only 26 retailers of hardware in Chicago sell that type of implement, of which there are few in use, and the police hope to trace its sale.
