The eighteenth annual Exhibition of the Chilliwaek Agricultural Society which has just been brought to a close was the most successful of the many exhibitions held by the Society. Although the number of exhibits, were not as large as had been anticipated the quality was iu every particular superior to that oi former shows. During the entire exhibition beautiful weather prevailed and visitors aud alike, seemed to enjoy the exhibition and sports, the latter ot which were well arranged aud varied. LIVE STOCK The exhibition of live slock was inost creditable, some of tho animals being worthy of tho highest praise, Messrs li Kipp aud 1) lUcGilhvray's Durham bulls were both handsome animals. In tho Jersey class Messrs.

Stroot ami Smith divided the honors. Mr Ghadsay's llolstoiu bull and cow irj splendid specimens of t'le breed. The bull is an ofTspi iug of the cow which was imprtol from Edam, lleee a also showed fiomo good Hols'eius. Mr. Branch flnver's Ayshira bull and cow received great praisj.

Mr. I Kipp won all the prizes with his Guernsey cattle. Mr. A. Wells' showed soma graded stock, that would compare favorable with many thoroughbreds, Messrs A Kunis and Lumsdon possess the finest stallions in the valley, nud it i3 a question whether therj are uisny animals iu the Provmcs that would compete with them, Taken on the whole the exhibit ol horses was most creditable.

Some excsllent sheep were shown. Mr. Nowell exhibited an Oxhrd Down ram although no class had been made for this breed, the directors awarded the ram a prize. Mr. Roece took all tho prizes in Leicestera.

Mr. Wilkinson's South Downs received a good deal of attentiou; his prizi ram weighed uearij 300 lbs. Mr. I Kipp was the most successful competitor in iho Shropshire class. A omparativeley small number of pigs were exhibited, but all were good animals, and it was a difficult matter for the Judges to make a distinction.

Mr. Evans gained first prize with his Berkshire boar, as also did Mr. I Kipp with his sow. Mr. Branchflower showed a fine specimen of Chester white.

Messrs I tind Kipp scored high in Yorkshires. A good many entries wers made in poultry and many fine specimens were exhibited, DAIRY PRODUCB. The quantity of butter and cheese was excellent. The principal exhibi ors being (i Chadsey, A Evans, A Weils, J. Peers, II Webb C.

T. and A .7 Street. Mr. A JKells gained honors in factory made cheese while Mim, Ghadsoy Becnrjd the prize for home manufactured article, the FIELD PRODUCE. The eize of the vegetables shown would have astonished anyone not acquantod with the luxiuriaLt growth vegetation in British Columbia.

Sumas aud Sardis were well represented, by Messrs. wells, webb, Hig Chadsey, Evans, Mercer, jiirauchflower, while Chilliwack's refutation was maintained by Messrs. Kipp lieece De wo'le and Peers. Many good specimens desery jng of recommendation were unfortunately without tickets, thus debar iim thorn from gamins prizes, HORTICULTURE The show of fruit was as large as could be reasonable expected, but the quality and sizo fully compensated for the lack of quantity. Mr.

McDonald of the firm of McGili McDonald, Salem, Oregon, showed seme specimens of the Tcnuant prune th in the natural and dried state. A lihotogrnph showing the tree bearing its fifteenth crop, heavily laieu with fruit was shown, also another giving a brai.ch eighteeu iuches long coutaiumg 80 prunes. The fruit is very large and remarkably swoet. Wm. Chadsey. We are glad to welcome Mr. Malcolm, who has bought the farm recently occupied by Mr. George Lickman, and who moved into his new residence last week.

The special meetings held nightly at the Methodist Church here, last week aud this, have been largely attended. The present beautiful weather is enabling farmers to end their harvesting and begin fall work under very favorable condition.
