4 NEW TRUE AD VE 'Give and Take' With John Reed King Eddy Duchin and Heard Saturday Afternoon on IVMPEx Serviccmcn on "Give and the Columbia network audience ticipation quiz program with emcee John Reed King as its humorous anoThumor loving host will be heard at a new time WHP, Saturdays, beginning today, January 4, under the spon sorship of The Toni Company, in the interest of the Toni Home Permanent Wave. The new time will be from 2 to 2.30 p. EST. John Reed King invites contestants to inspect a glittering array of prizes, each with a ques' tion attached. The ladies design nate the prizes they would like to try for, and get them tney can answer the questions.

Other program features are the "spell down," the "grand slam," and the "Who's Who" quiz. In the "spell down," questions are asked five or so contestants until all but one are eliminated. In the "grand slam," all in the studio audience compete, submitting answers in writing. In the "Who's Who" feature, King asks quizzes to identify the names of people who have taken part in world famous events. The catch is that usually they are not as well known as the events, John Reed King gives away breath taking prizes to lucky contestants on the show, but the ladies have to "take it to take them home, Prankster King, who keeps the ladies laughing at him and them' selves in this hilarious quiz show, has cooked up a series of humor' ous hazards for would be prize winners Besides answering the questions on the program, the contestants all come in for their share of good natured fun.

Durante Moore Open March of Dimes Campaign Immediately following their regular CBS broadcast Friday, January 10, at 9.30 p. EST, Jimmy "The Nose" Durante and Garry "The Haircut" Moore will leave Hollywood to go to Denver for that city's 1947 March of Dimes campaign. The entire Durante Moore gang Songstress Suzanne 1 1 Maestro Roy Bargy, Candy Can dido and Announcer Howard Pe trie will make the trip with: Jimmy and Garry. While in the "Mile High City" they will make Several appearances in addition to a gala March of Dimes broad cast Friday, January 17. The troupe will return to Hollywood for the broadcast January 24.

Jimmy Durante hopes to complete his own ending to the "Unfinished Symphony" during the January 10 show. Philharmonic Soloist Sunday Jacques Thibaud, noted French violinist, after a fifteen year absence from this country, appears as soloist with the New York Philharmonic Symphony over the Columbia network Sunday after noon, January 5 (WHP, 3 4.30 p. EST). He plays Lalo's "Symphonie Espagnole." The program, conducted by Leopold Stokowski, also includes the mot.t "Jesus Dulcis Memoria" bv Vittoria, the Overture to Moz art's opera "Don Giovanni" with the composer's own ending, and Hindemith's First Symphony.

During intermission time, Dr. Selsman A. Wakeman of the agricultural experiment section of the state of New Jersey, will tell "The Story of Streptomycin," the new medical discovery being used to fight tuberculosis and venereal disease. It i a beautiful place on a slope with huge oak and maple trees, a spa cious lawn, a large vegetable garden arranged in a variegated. delicately planned pattern and containing a large number of rare flowers, particularly that of nis iavorite, the ins.

Williams was born in Nashville on July 12, 1891. After gradu ating from high school and taking special courses in art and trade schools, he accepted a position with the National Highways As sociation in Washington, D. C. During the first World War.1 Williams joined the Army and served as a sergeant instructor at Charlotte, N. C.

The war over. Tom became art director for the Williams Printing Company in Nashville, a firm founded by two older brothers. Later he studied at the Art Students League, Cooper Union and National Academy of Design in New York. Margaret O'Brien Stars in 'Captain January' Tonight A seagoing man, who turns lighthouse keeper, should lead a quiet, retired life But he comes out of retirement quickly when Margaret O'Brien, as a shipwrecked foundling, completely confuses 'the life of the lighthouse keeper, played by Herbert Marshall, in the "Hollywood Star Time" presentation tonight of "Captain January," over WHP at 8 o'clock.

Margaret O'Brien, as the little waif rescued after a shipwreck and taken home to the lighthouse, puts Captain January in the triple pre dicament of being a foster parent, at war with the village truant officer, and about to lose his job. The truant officer decides that the old captain isn't capable of raising the little girl, while the government decides to modernize the lighthouse with electricity since the shipwreck. As Captain January's life is about to fall completely apart, an unusual situation brings the story to a happy climax.
