In this group is again evidenced her sensitiveness for the pure, spontaneous, unconscious joy of youth in the nude figure of a boy a handsome boy at play with a bubbling stream of water, which he directs with his right hand into a rough channel, over which It trickles to the trough, beside which a dog lies curled patiently waiting and watching on guard. Warren.

The visitors to the studio included many distinguished citizens of Boston and art lovers who had heard of this remarkable bit of sculpture by Bashka Paeff. These went away so pleased and impressed by the work that its fame spread and the little workshop studio was crowded almost up to the fatal moment Saturday when the clay model was to be destroyed forever by the skilled workmen who were to make the plaster mold from which the bronze reproduction will be cast. In this process of making the mold the original clay model disappears. This In itseir Is something of a tragedy to the sculptor who has lovingly worked over that mass of dead clay for months and wrought out of it something humanely vital, palpitant with the living fire of imagination and charged with the artistic impulse that gave it birth. There grows up something of an intangible relationship between the artist and this clay which has been moulded into artistic life and form something very dear and real because of its pliability and adaptability to every mood and whim and fancy of the artist.

So the parting is like the parting with a very dear friend, except that out of the. destruction of the clay the vision comes in a new and more enduring material.
