Each evening, Monday through Friday, at 5.15, the radio man will leave the studios on the "Magic to make his fast trip to Santa Claus Land. It has been suggested that all kiddies who wish to contact Santa Claus do so early this year. There is always the possibility that someone's letter may not be delivered before the dead line. So if there are any special messages for Santa Claus they should be forwarded to WHP, addressed to Santa Claus.

And, of course, there is the added inconvenience of the Freight Embargo, which limits the size of packages that can be shiDoed during the neit few weeks. Joseph Fuchs will be soloist in th major Violin Concerto. Orchestral numbers include the Overture Fantasy, "Romeo and Juliet" and the "Nutcracker" Suite. At intermission time, Dr. Ira Sprague Bowen speaks on "The 200 Inch Camera." Dr. Bowen is director of the group of atrononv ical observatories and laboratories that includes Mt.

Wilson Observatory and the Palomar Mountain Observatory, the latter under construction. Soloists vie for the assignment to play the Tschaikowsky major Concerto, but it wasn't always thus. Leopold Auer, the great Rus sian virtuoso to whom he originally dedicated the work, pronounced it impossible to play and set it aside. This action, of course, damned the concerto in the eyes of ail the other Russian violinists so that none of them would risk playing it Ironically, the composer learned that the piece had been played at last, by reading a review that lambasted it in a Vienna paper that he happened to pick up in Rome, some three years after his rebuff from Auern Bitter Sweet Good things still come in small packages.
