10 HARRISBURGESQUE Frankly recording the drama, pathos and humor of every day life in Pennsylvania's capital. Bv KOBE FRANK Always havinj been a great lover of good music, it is excusable when I tell you that I saw Jack O'Rear's current cinema hit, "The Great Victor Herbert" twice on Friday, and I intend to drop in on it some more this week. It'i one of those shows that lifts you up, and when you emerge from the theatre, you have feeling of buoyancy asN'OBE though you have FRANK fust seen something that makes you feel swell all over. Victor Her bert music is always thrilling and it's been carried over into a pip of a movie hit. Whenever I think of good music, and what it does to one, I am mind ful of a friend of mine back in Pittsburgh when I was at the University.

He was an attorney, and a mighty successful one, and still is. His mother was living at the time, and he," a bachelor, made his home with her. And there is one chap who started every day right. As he was bathing and shaving, his mother would go into the large drawing room of their home, and start playing songs from the operas, hits from the light operas, and scores from the great composers. He told me one time, "I don't know what I'll do if mother dies this has been a daily occurrence for many years, and I can't tell you the lift it gives me for a busy day at the office.

His mother died several years ago. Possibly there are others who do the same, but I have often thought what thrill to start the day with music real music. The semi final bouts of the Telegraph Golden Gloves bouts will be held Thursday night of this week, and judging from the last three leather festivals, there will be plenty of action for the most rabid fight fan. When the card gets down to sole survivors, there's always scramble for those fine prizes the. Telegraph awards its winners, and this year, there will be beautiful robes, a nice shiny pair of new trunks, and a new pair of shoes for each of the finalists to sport in Philadelphia.

And will those lads battle ham mer and tongue for the honor of wearing them? When you work as the Golden Gloves Committee does each year to make this your tournament, it's nice to sit back in the latter stages of the tourney and pick out angles upon which some improvement can be made for future years, to say nothing of the thrill of sitting there and just enjoying the fights, something you can't do when there are over 100 boys clamoring for action when the tourney is in the early stages. see you Thursday! Congratulations to Welly Jones of the Harrisburg Telegraph on his election to the presidency of the Sports Writers' Association of the Inter State Baseball League. Welly is truly deserving of the honor, both in point of years, and his sen ice to the community wherein he will serve, for his faithful performance during his many years as sports scrivener. Truly a dean of sports end sports writers. Dr.
