DONALD G. KYLE Nee Diane Oakley Kyle-Oakley Miss Linda Grace and Terry Don Miller were united in marriage in a double-ring ceremony Saturday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, the Rev. David Hale officiating.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie C. Grace and Mr. and Mrs.

William B. Miller, all of Corsicana. The sanctuary was decorated with two large arrangements of peach and white gladiolas, carnations, pom-poms and stock. A pair of seven-branch candlelabra held bridal tapers entwined with greenery accented with large white bows. The kneeling bench was covered in satin and lace with orange blossoms.

Family pews were marked with white satin bows and greenery. Mrs. Harold Williamson, organist, accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Sherry French in Wedding and theme from Love Story. The matron of honor was her sister, Mrs.

Johnnie Stokes, and bridesmaids were a sister, Miss Diane Grace and Miss Kenner Shaw of Dallas. Scott Bradley served as best man, and groomsmen were Rusty Brittain of Austin, and Buddy Grace, brother of the bride. Mark Hambrick and Kelly Martin were candlelighters doubling as ushers with James Stokes and Dickie Miller, brother. Jana Lewis was flower girl and Shae St. Clair was ring bearer.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a Galina dress designed by Christos. The dress was styled in ivory silk organza with Brussels lace bodice. The butterfly sleeves were edged with English lace, and standup collar was styled in lace butterfly appliques accenting the Victorian neckline. Fitted to a slightly lifted waistline, the dress flowed into an A-line skirt. The matching headpiece was a Camelot cap heavily encrusted with pearls and attached to a fingertip veil of silk illusion.

She carried a nosegay of apricot and tangerine carnations and tropicana roses centered with a corsage of the same flowers. He attendants wore identical floor length candlelight crepe dresses with fitted bodice of empire line and a chiffon cape embroidered with apricot roses. They carried nosegays of apricot and peach carnations with matching streamers. The mother wore an apricot floor length chiffon dress with gathered skirt and fitted sleeves. The mother of the bridegroom wore a floor length gown of blue crepe.

The fitted waistline was accented by a pleated skirt and matching lac jacket. Both wore corsages )f white carnations. The reception followed in fellowship hall. A white Dasket held rice bags in peach and white. The table was covered in white tulle, and the swag was draped at the corners with white satin bells and peach colored bows.

The four-tiered cake was accented with peach roses and topped with miniature bride and groom. The centerpiece was a silver epergne filled with gladiolas, roses, carnations and stock. Punch was served from a silver punch bowl. White tapers in silver candlelabra accented the table. The table was covered in white with a yellow swag and greenery at the corners.

The centerpiece was an eight-branch votive dlelabra with yellow roses and white carnations. The chocolate cake was enscribed me to the church on with miniature coach, bride and groom. Coffee was served from a silver service. Flowers in the colors were used throughout the reception room. The cake was served by Mrs.

Lynn Shelton and the cake by Cynthia Bruce. Mrs. Mark Hambrick and Mrs. Dickie Miller presided at the punch bowl with coffee served by Diana Hinkle. Cheryl Bradley was at the appointment table.

Mrs. Johnny Lambert registered guests from Ennis, Dallas, Garland, Houston, Austin, Corsicana, and New Jersey. For travel, the bride wore a jade sleeveless A-line dress. of Uvalde. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pierce Callaway of Uvalde, formerly of Corsicana. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev.

Billy Tiller. The vows were exchanged before a large white arch decorated with garlands of greenery and small white flowers. A large fern plant hung behind the arch with white doves on either side. Ferns were placed at the base of the wedding arch. Phyllis Cummings of Uvalde was the maid of honor and Tammy Atkinson of LaPryor, sister of the bridegroom, was a bridesmaid.

Shanna Koehler of was flower girl. Mike Morris of San Antonio was best man and Mike Gass of Uvalde was the groomsman. Ushers were Tim Atkinson and Mark Callaway, brothers of the couple. Miss Claudia Plant of Abilene and Miss Kerry King of Uvalde served the three-tiered fountain cake, and Miss Rella Grimes of Uvalde served the cake. Presiding at the silver punch bowl was Miss Kim Lea of Uvalde. Miss Smmie Jo Nelson was in charge of the book registering guests from Corsicana, Mesquite, LaPryor, San Antonio, and Abilene.

During the summer of 1976,66 students completed all requirements for various degrees and certificates at Navarro College. Of this group of graduates, John William Kamphuis Jr. received recognition of graduating with highest honors while Robert Dwayne Steele and Glenn M. Young graduated with honors. Randy Scarborough, Danny Pownall, and Rodney Fawcett. slipped an 1897 coin in her shoe, carried a promise ring borrowed from her matron of honor, and wore a blue garter. Her bridal gown and veil were fashioned by Mrs. Anita Barrett of Weatherford.

The matron of honor wore a blue organza dress flocked in rosebuds with square neckline and empire waist, and three tiers of lace ruffles. She carried a nosegay of yellow, white and blue carnations. The bridegroom and his attendants wore tuxs. A reception was held following the ceremony in the church fellowship hall, which was decorated with arrangements of carnations in the chosen colors of yellow, white and blue, and a pair of candelabras. The cake was formed in three tiers and the cake was of German chocolate.

The wedding cakes were served by Mrs. James Ferrell of Aubrey and Eva Stubbs of Corsicana. Punch was dispensed by Brenda Mesker and Brenda Kuykendall of Corsicana. Nancy Ferrell, Denton registered guests from Dallas, Lubbock, Denton, Austin and Corsicana. After a wedding trip to Winter Park, Colorado, the newlyweds will reside in Duncan, Okla.

The bride, a resident of IOOF Home for 10 years, attended Navarro College, and received her BS in fashion merchandising from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. The bridegroom received his degree in electrical engineering from Texas Tech. and children, Brenda, Diana, and Tommy of Duncanville; Mr. and Mrs. A.J.

College Notes I students in the Golden Circle were among those receiving degrees following completion of the second summer term at Sam Houston State University, officials announced.

From Corsicana, Patricia Rose Fowler, 1706 West 12th was awarded a bachelor of arts in teaching with a major in physical education. Linda Willard Davis, Rt. 1, Box 280B, Fairfield, was awarded a bachelor of business administration majoring in business education. SHSU currently has an enrollment of approximately 11.000 students. New club elects officers Bob Rehders was recently elected president of the newly formed Navarro County Roadrunner Touring Club.

Other officers include John Bowman, vice president, and Charlotte Bowman, secretary- treasurer. The club plans to attend the races at Lake Whitney Sept. 26. The club will meet the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Corsicana Fire Department.

Kerens twirler wows 'em with spinning blades By RAY MAYO Golden Circle Editor KERENS Missy Ward, 17-year-old Kerens High School senior, decided two years ago to take twirling lessons, and since then has won several state titles and a trophy case full of awards. She is featured twirler for the Kerens High School band and dazzles the football fans with her halftime routine which includes twirling Samoan swords. She says she enjoys performing with the swords than any other part of the and adds with a laugh that performing with swords really that difficult, the people seem to enjoy BUT TWIRLING real swords can be dangerous, she admits. Although she says she has never seriously cut herself, once while performing at the state fair, she bruised one of her ankles and the routine with tears streaming down my Missy has entered a number of contests since she began twirling, and has brought home 59 trophies, 46 medals and sue plaques. Her state titles this year include best costume, state sweetheart and state military champion.

Last year, she placed fifth in the military competition. She explains that the sweetheart competition is judged on modeling ability, poise and beauty. MOST TWIRLING contests are held in Dallas but she has traveled as far away as Louisiana to compete. She credits her mother for her costumes which have won a state title. does all my she relates, does beautiful, beautiful, She has five competition costumes and a field costume.

Missy also plays the clarinet in the high school band, and explains that at a contest last year, she was more proud of being named outstanding soloist on bass clarinet than the nine twirling trophies she brought back with her. She is also active in her church work and plays the organ for the Presbyterian Church in Kerens. She maintains an average in her studies, and is active in the high school drama department. She was named best actress in one act play competition for the past two years. SHE SAYS she hopes to obtain a twirling scholarship after graduation from high school, but admits the is Missy explains that she plans to major in drama in college, and eventually teach drama at the high school level.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe A. Ward of Kerens. Her mother teaches the first grade, and her father is employed at Nipak.

She has two brothers, John, 16, and Jody, 14. Missy says she plans to enter a number of twirling contests this year as well as participate in an upcoming International Miss Pageant to be held in Garland. The contest is open for young women 17-22 years of age, and contestants will be judged on modeling, interviews and competition.
