I am very careful about these hasty marriages, and refused to do so at first. and told theta to go home and come again in the morning with their parents, but the young man told me that he had wronged the girl and wanted to make it all right.

Ho urged it so strongly that I married them. I had a long talk with young Mr. Travers. He was perfectly sober. 1 told him that what he was doing could not be undone, and he said that he knew what the step he was about to take meant, and still insisted on the marriage.

I did not then know either of the contracting parties, but they were both of an age to judge for themselves." The girl's father was a dry goods merchant in Brooklyn, but failed in 1873. She has two brothers. Robert IlitcNoil is in the New York post office, and Louis McNeill is a clerk in Wesehler tt Abrahams' dry goods house. Her eldest sister married C. A.
