WEBB JR. Harvards great football eleven smashed tradition into smithereens yesterday. Haughtons splendid machine not only came through with even more decisive football than was expected of it against Yales llth-hour team, but, mercilessly banging its way up: the gridiron, time and again placed the ball within drop-kick dis-. tance. The team having done its work, Charley Brickley was on hand to deliver the punch.

Yesterday the particular solar plexus blow was performed with Charleys already famous right foot, and four goals by drop-kick and one from placement made possible the Crimsons 15-to-5 victory over Yale. Nearly 50,000 persons saw the game. Two Traditions Smashed. Harvard has waited long for such a day to come. Yesterday was the real christening of the Crimsons Stadium.

Five times had the Blue and Crimson teams faced each other within its walls, but never before had the Harvard team been returned the winner. This was one tradition that now is no more. Also, no longer can Yale point to I football history and say: "Well, Har- vard beats us once in a while, hut you will notice that she never comes back to give a double dose. Last year Harvard won by 20 to 0 yes- terday, in a better football game, I the victory was even more decisive, although it may not be shown by the figures.
