Mrs Patten Joined her husband in Russia -some time after his arrival there to take charge of a Government contract, but she has never been contented to remain in the country and has been eagerly awaiting the time when she could return home.

The Patten estate In Lancaster was bequeathed to Mrs Patten by her father, the late Nathaniel Thayer. She 'prefers It to the place in Natick which she and her husband have occupied much of the time, and which is to be sold. Mrs William B. of, Chestnut st will open the ballroom-, of her house on Wednesday afternoon, Nov 15, for a meeting of the (New England branch of the Constantinople Col-lege'Assoclation. Sir Edwin Pearswill address the meeting, and, at the conclusion of his talk; tea will be served.

Mrs Desire Despradelie of 382 Commonwealth av. is the branch secretary, and Miss Rose Nichols of 65 Mt. Vernon st is chairman. This is the second meeting that the branch organization has held The death of little Marjorie Forbes, the 10-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Murray Forbes of Wellesley, as the result of an automobile accident Is one of, the saddest incidents associated with the extensive necrology- due to travel In motor cafs.

Aside from 'its tragic features, the death the little girl will be deplored by those-who 'knew her, for she was a loving and loveable child, her sweet, and engaging, manners making for her many, friends who will deeply' miss her. Among the relatives who are affected by her death are her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs Cochrane of Commonwealth av; Mrs Howard Cushing New York, Mrs Lindsley Lorlng of Westood, Mrs George R. Fearing Jr and Mrs Richard Dj. Sears, all of whom are aunts-and sisters of Mrs Forbes.

The 'Sewing Circle League will have, as usual, its' annual series of lectures at the Tuileries this Winter. Arrangements are now in progress for the Course, which will begin on Wednesday morning, Dec G. Two other, dates, Dec 2) and Jafi 3, have been chosen, but those for the remainder of. the series have not been selected. The list of speakers and their topics are also under consideration and will later be announced.

Mrs Arthur B. Nichols of 140 Brattle st, Cambridge, w-ill present her daughter, Miss Elizabeth Nichols, at a tea, ith dancing, on Thursday, Nov 23, at the Cambridge Boat Club. Miss Nichols is a member of the jewing Circle. Mr and. Airs Gordon Abbott have returned to their home.
