Yourtango.com offers advice on how to avoid an awkward and turn it into a surprising success. Do an activity you can enjoy together: Stick to what you know.

Organize an outing that is engaging for the both of you. If you both like the outdoors, try a hike. Or if you both like to cook, prepare a meal together. Wear something comfortable in: Wear something that suits you and gives you the dence to strut yourself. Instead of going to dinner, meet for a drink: If you realize the chemistry is not there, grabbing a quick drink makes it easier for you to leave, rather than sitting through a long, full-course meal.
