Thursday, August 20, 1970 3 Constitutional Amendments On General Election Ballots COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Ohioans will have four dates of candidates for governor and the U. S. Senate, as, well as three constitutional amendments when they go to the polls In November. The 1970 general election ballots for 88 counties were prescribed Wednesday by Secretary of State Ted W. Brown, and contain the names of Socialist Labor Party candidates for governor and U.

S. Senate, as well as candidates from the American Independent Party, Democrats and Republicans. A U. S. District Court ordered the Socialist Labor Party candidates on the ballot several weeks ago after the party challenged Ohio election laws.

The proposed consitutional amen- demcnts would: Allow laws reducing property taxes on homes of persons 63 or older. Local School Staff Assigned For Opening On Aug. 31 PLEASANT HILL Newton Local School will open Monday Aug.

31 at 8:30 a.m. This will be a full day of school with lunch being served at noon. All buses will run approximately the same schedule as last year. All new residents who have not registered their Children are asked to do so sometime the week of Aug. 24 between 9 a.m.

and 3:30 p.m. Any high school student wishing a lock or locker changed from last years's assignment is asked to wait until the first week of school. Any high school student wishing to change his schedule should wait until the first week of school. High school students with conflicts will be notified. Morning kindergarten classes will begin at 8:30 a.m.

and afternoon classes at 12:15 p.m. Letters are being mailed to all kindergarten parents this week with complete information on the 197071 kindergarten class. There will be a pre-school workbook sale in the science rooms on the first floor of the school on Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Students are asked to buy their workbooks on this date if at all possible. For those parents who will be out of town on this date, workbooks will be sold the first week of school. Parents are requested not to come to school for workbooks at any other time. The following is a list of the new teachers for 1970-71 school year. Michael Barnhart, a graduate of Wright State University will be the high school principal and teach the senior social studies courses.

Mrs. Janice O'Connor, of Wright State, will teach first grade. Miss Linda White, of Bowling Green State University will teach third grade. Miss Judy York, a graduate of Wright State University will teach 4th grade. She resides at Clayton.

Ohio. Mrs. Judy Eversdyke who is attending Wright State University, fifth grade. Miss Kay Batdorf high school English. She is a graduate of Manchester College.

Mrs. Bonita Jenkins is the new band director. Mrs. Jenkins is a graduate of Miami University and taught last year in Bradford. She will also be in charge of the high school chorus.

Karl Kross, Arizona State University, industriaFarts. Miss Linda Lewis, University of Dayton, will be the Girls P.C. director and the sponsor of the GAA. She also will be in charge of the cheerleaders. Miss Lewis is from Germantown, Ohio.

Robert Mateva will be in charge of special education. He is a graduate of Toledo University. Mrs. Lydia Koverman, Miami University, home economics. Mrs.

Margaret Mauntler, Bowling Green State, junior high English. The following personel will be returning to Newton for the school year. James W. Alley, Mrs. Naomi Noll, Kindergarten; Mrs.

Virginia Warner, first grade; Mrs. Marjorie Fisher, second; Mrs. Marie Preston, second; Mrs. Linda Paisely, third; Mrs. Lucille Lutz and Miss Elsa Kortsch each one half day, fourth grade; Mrs, Karen Dernbach fifth; Richard Derbach, sixth; Miss Mary Gnodle, sixth; Joe Besecker, high school math and physical education; Mrs.

Diane Henn, science; Mrs. Aileen Hile, foreign language; James Otey, social studies; Mrs. Bernice Piper, librarian; Mrs. Elizabeth Queen, social studies; Mrs. Elizabeth Sanders, commercial; W.

Michael Short, science; Tyrone Thomas, art, guidance; Gene Weeks, vocational agriculture; Mrs. Treva Westfall, jr. high and elementary music. Terry Thoreen, math; Mrs. Jean Gilbert will be in charge of the remedial reading project this year.
