Goodman, 26 Hanover st, and asked that he might address a letter. He was shown to Mr Goodman's private desk where the proprietor left him. Thinking Mr Woodbury was occupying a long time to write an address Mr Goodman returned to the desk and found Mr Woodbury with his head bowed.

Speaking to him, Mr Goodman received no reply. He raised his head and found he was breathing feebly. Hurried calls were sent for doctors, two responding, but on their arrival Mr Woodbury was dead. Heart failure is assigned as the cause. Mr Woodbury was a native of New York City, and a descendant of the Woodburys who settled in Beverly, Mass, in 1624.

He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, Harvard University and Columbia Law School. He practiced law in New York but his health failed and he established his home in Bedford in 3889. engaging in farming. He purchased and conducted the Manchester Union from 1896 until 1906, making of the paper a pronounced success. He served in the Legislature three terms, as a member of the Constitutional convention and on the council" of the State Board of Agriculture.

During the war he was in France engaged in Red Cross work. In 1920, when Franklin D. Roosevelt resigned as Assistant Secretary of the Navy to accept the Democratic nomination for Vice President, Mr Woodbury was named as his successor and filled the offlcce until a change of Administration brought about his retirement. Two years ago Mr Woodbury purchased a yacht which was at one time the property of the Kaiser and with a party of friends set out on a voyage to Europe. Their vessel encountered a whirlwind off Cape May, one of the seamen was swept overboard and lost, and Mr Woodbury was also swept overboard but another wave carried him back to the ship.

It la believed that the terrible experience shortened his life. Mr Woodbury was recently chosen as one of a committee of three to appear before the Democratic national convention as representatives of the League of Nations and seek to have a plank inserted in the platform favoring the perfecting of a fceaguey Mr Woodbury is survived by his wife and two sons, a brother, Thornton Woodbury of Bordeaux, France, and one sister, Mrs Helen Seamon of In combination walnut and gum.
