Dr. Lee, a graduate of the university, died at the Cincinnati Sanitarium, College Hill, June 13.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Legg, pioneer Piquads. The famDy resided on the site now occupied by the Atlas Underwear company, Jonathan Legg operating a pump repairing shop. Later they changed their name to Leggee and finally to Lee.

The surgeon visited Piqua about a year ago when he was a guest at the Hotel Favorite. Former Judge Stanley C. Roettinger, who filed the will, said Dr. Lee was a bachelor and had no near relatives. Lee was a physician, surgeon and expert on physical therapy, who had practiced most of his life in New York. He acquired an outstanding reputation as a surgeon and was the inventor of numerous surgical appliances. Leaving New York in March, 1944, Dr. Lee visited for a time with old acquaintance at the Delaware University and then came to Cincinnati. Dr.

Douglas A. Johnston, medical director of the sanitarium, said the surgeon became a patient there about a year ago. Several months ago Judge Frank S. Bonham appointed Attorney Paul W. Steer to act as Dr.

Lee's guardian because of Dr. Lee's age. WOMAN STRUCK BY AUTO, DRIVER IS HELD BLAMELESS Blinded by rain on the windshield, George C. Shaeffer, 15, Pleasant Hill, route 1, failed to see the woman who darted from the sidewalk into the street in front of his car Wednesday night. Martha Sherwood Henderson, 25, 224 Roosevelt avenue, had just emerged from the Ritz Cafe, 110 North Main street, when she ran into the street.

According to the police, several of her companions said that she failed to look for approaching traffic. Schaeffer Jammed on his brakes when his car hit her. The accident occurred near 9:30 o'clock. When the victim was admitted to Piqua Memorial hospital Ehe was suffering from shock and bad lacerations on head and face. Plasma was administered and today hospital attendants report her condition as good.

Police did not hold Schaeffer responsible for the accident. It was estimated that this car was traveling at about 15 miles an hour. PARENTS INVITED TO FIELD DAY AT PARK ON FRIDAY Parents and friends are especially urged to attend Field Day Friday afternoon from 1 to 5 at Foun- tain Park when children from the! four playgrounds will combine their efforts to present a program of variety and interest. Beginning at 1:30, a pet, doll and bicycle parade will be held, the contestants to be judged at 2 o'clock. Games and contests will begin in the special game arena along with tournaments of croquet and checkers and will continue until 5.

O'Neal, 88, former janitor at the Lena-Conover school died at the home of a nephew, J. B. Mears, 723 Manier avenue at 9:30 o'clock this morning.

Death was attributed to infirmitives of age and came after several months of failing health. The son of George and Sarah O'Neal, he was born March 3, 1857 in Wyandotte county and had resided in the Lena-Conover community for many years. For the past six years he had lived with his nephew here. He was married December 29, 1886 to Liddie E. Young, who died July 7, 1924.

A son died in infancy. J. B. Mears. the nephew is the only immediate survivor residing in this vicinity.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Sunday at the Suber funeral home in Fletcher with burial to be in Fletcher cemetery. PLAN IRENE LEWIS FUNERAL SATURDAY Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Liggins Lewis who died Tuesday will be held Saturday at 10 a.

WANDA CLEMENS RECEIVES ESSAY CONTEST HONORS Wanda Clemens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Clemens, 1008 Camp street, was the recipient of double awards this morning at the High School building from the State and Miami County Tuberculosis-and Health association in recognition of an essay written this spring sponsored by the organization.

"Wanda's essay, entitled "What Do We Really Know About Tuberculosis?" received honorable mention from the State, and as a result she was given a certificate from the State, presented by Miss Helen Gosling, executive secretary of the local group of the association. In addition she was given $5 in cash from the Miami county group, presented by Mrs. Q. B. Mitchell, president of the board in Miami county.

The contest was open to all Negro boys and girls of high school age. In addition to Mrs. Mitchell and Miss Gosling, other people present at the presentation were Mr. and Mrs. Clemens, Superintendent of Schools C.

M. Sims, Principal of the high school Robert G. Winter, and Miss Thelma Metz, school nurse.
