Berry of the School of Med icine and Dentistry, University of Rochester, is the intermission speaker. His topic is "Viruses Master Parasites." The Korngold work received its premiere with the St. Louis Sym phony last month. It was com posed in the summer and autumn of 1945 and is dedicated to Alma Mahler Werfel. Based on four months of un remitting work by the Documentary Unit staff and 'on an extensive nationwide tour of investigation by Howard Rodman, brilliant writing the script, "A Long Life LAnd A Merry One," will present in warmly human, authoritative and dramatic terms, an objective report on the state of our nation's health. The problem, as it will be sum marized by the broadcast, touches all Americans, rich and poor, in cities and rural areas, slum and subVirb. Before joining the program department of WHP, Lee Cronican was production director of Radio Station WOR, and the programs which originated there for the Mutual Network. During his years of association with WOH! and Mutual, he was the announcer on many of radio's outstanding programs, and was a free lance announcer on all four networks.

Lee has been in the world of entertainment all his life. He was the wonder pianist when he was in his teens, and later traveled throughout the United States and Canada from coast to coast, both as a concert pianist and as accompanist for some of the world's best known soloists, including Reinald Werrenrath, Paul Althouse, Emanuel Liszt, Jeannette Vreeland, Eddy Brown, and many others. He also was pianist and assistant conductor of a large theatre orchestra in Washington before joining the staff of WOR, and while at that station was one of the regular staff of conductors. Cronican joined the staff of WHP as a newscaster six years ago, and since then has been han dling three newscasts per day 12 Noon, 4.25 and 11 P. M.

Due to his wide and varied ex perience in the world of music, he was chosen to produce and announce the one hour concert pro gram heard each evening from nine to ten on WHP FM. Winifred Smith Sings Angel Role On 'Let's Pretend' Soprano Winifred Smith will portray a singing angel when "Let's Pretend" presents its ninth annual Easter dramatization, "Heavenly Music," Saturday, April 5. (WHP, 11.05 11.30 a. m. EST).

Miss Smith will sing the role of an angel who sends heavenly harmonies to the people of Happy Valley. The allegory tells of an invasion of the valley by Greed and Discontent who seek to sub stitute discordant melodies for the familiar peaceful music. Producer director Nila Mack says of "Heavenly Music:" "It typifies the Resurrection in a community rather than an in dividual people who have strayed from the spiritual path but who win their struggle to come back." The story was adapted by Miss Mack from the book, "The Rusted Knight" by Richard Von Volk man. The music, including Miss Smith's solo, "Heavenly Father," is composed and conducted by Maurice Brown. m. Bob Hope is the guest for the premiere with Eddie Cantor set for the second broadcast, April 6. Martin currently is starring at The Copacabana in New York, on the heels of his record smashing engagement at Chicago's Chez Paree. His New York engagement is a limited one, to permit his return to Hollywood for the premiere of his new radio show. In addition to his night club triumphs, Martin has just signed a contract to make two new movies.

Evelyn Knight, golden haired and golden voiced will share the vocal spotlight with Martin. She has given three "command performances" for President Truman. Deems Taylor has named her the "Cinderella of Night Clubs." Victor Young, who will conduct the orchestra on the "Tony Martin Show," is widely known as a composer and conductor of motion picture scores. He has written a number of hit including "Sweet Sue," "My Romance" and "Can't We Talk It Over." He reached the podium by way of the concert stage, starting as a child violinist.
