"Portia Faces Life," 'dramatic serial starring Lucille Wall as a woman lawyer who battles the forces of crime and corruption, returns 'to Columbia network Monday, April 3 (WHP, Mondays through Fridays, 2 to 2.15 p. Lucille Wall has had the title role of Portia Blake since the LUCILLE WALL program's debut in April, 1940, on CBS, where it remained for a year before moving to another network. As the drama returns to CBS, Portia has just successfully defended Walter Manning, whom she loves, in his trial for treason, and has returned to her home in Parkerstown. There, with her young son, Dickie, she hopes to settle down and pick up the threads of her disrupted life.

But this long hoped for peace is shattered as it becomes necessary to defend her son when he is involved in a case of juvenile delinquency. Alastair Kyle plays Dickie Blake, Bartlett Robinson is Walter Manning, Kathy is played by Margaret MacDonald, Allan Reed in Ward Fletcher, Luise Barclay is Karen Zaharoff, Richard Coo gan is Dr. Campbell and Constance Collier is Mrs. Dalrymple. New Character on CBS "BigSister" "Big Sister," top ranking daytime drama which was introduced over CBS in September, 1986, will heard on a network of 121 Columbia stations beginning Monday, April 3. Robinson on Lux Radio Theatre "Destroyer," the powerfud war story of one of the Navy's hard fighting ships, will be the dramatic presentation of Cecil DeMille on the Lux Radio Theatre, Monday, April 3, at 9 p. m. over WHP. Edward G. Robinson, Mar guerite Chapman, and Dennis O'Keefe will share the honors in the full hour Lux Radio Theatre production.

"Destroyer" is the saga of a fighting ship from the time she is launched from the shipyards to the memorable moment when she re turns battle scarred but tri umphant from her sea victories Edward G. Robinson will play the role of Steve Boleslavski, veteran of World War I Navy, who turns shipyard worker in this war, and then wangles a post as chief boatswain's mate on the destroyer. Marguerite Chapman and Dennis O'Keefe will enact the romantic scenes. Miss Chapman as Mary Boleslavski is the daughter of the Navy veteran. This transportation system, con ducted by an Army Railway Op erating Battalion at Lamp uai borne, Louisiana, is fondly called the "worst railroad on earth." It runs along the edge of the Louisiana swamp country and is built to have wrecks. The run is a 50 mile stretch of track between Camp Polk and Camp Claiborne and serves as a "training course" for troops who are called upon to take over on the heels of an invasion and operate under combat conditions. The equipment consists of 1902 model locomotives, ancient coaches which probably saw serv ice in the Spanish American War, 4 wheel European box cars all chiefly held together with baling wire. The only modern device is a wrecker crane which is called into play when one of the antiques tumbles off the rails and sinks in the swamps. 'Young Dr. Malone' Now Heard at 2.30 "Young Doctor Malone," the dramatic story of the happiness and heartache in the lives of a young married couple, has been a network feature for more than five years.
