December '16, 1976 II LILILItJJ Party for Versailles safety patrol Wednesday's unseasonably warm temperatures made snowmobiling impractical, so dune buggy rides entertained Versailles school safety patrol members who partied in the afternoon at the Carl Subler lodge south of the village. Sixth graders Kathy Thiebeau and Janet Kunk were among those in line for rides given by Tom Subler. The party began with a pizza luncheon in the St. Denis Church basement.

Thirty-eight patrol members ate their way through 14 of (he 20 large pizzas. Remaining'pizza was sent to the Brethren Home In Greenville. An afternoon at the lodge followed. Children'returned to school in tune for dismissal, armed with fruit baskets. Subler sponsors the party annually to thank students for their efforts in safely directing pedestrian traffic near theschoolp, even on wet and cold days.

The patrol was organized by Police Chief George Frantz who says he thinks the party ha's helped make the patrol so popular there is now a waiting list to fill the volunteer slots. Rita' Hospital, Lima, where he had been under treatment for injuries he received Dec. 5 when the automobile he was driving crashed in a single-car accident near Celina, killing three Minster teenagers. Mercer County sheriff's deputies said it is not-known whether charges will be filed against Dues. Steven Sommer, 20, of Minster, who also was injured in the accident, was dismissed from Coldwater Community Hospital last week. The three youths killed were Jeffrey Bruns, 17, James Quinlin, 16, and Thomas Meiring, 16.
