AP) President Johnson ei ved the latest military analysis Friday of the effects of stepped-up U.S bombing raids on North Viet Nam. It came in a phone call from Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara.

Press secretary Bill D. Movers told newsmen at White House press headquarters here that McNamara gave the President the latest analysis of the effects of the raids. In speeches Thursday in Omaha, and Des Moines, Iowa, Johnson said that as long as North Viet Nam's Communist leaders refuse to talk peace, the raids will continue. "We would rather reason than fight Johnson said in Des Moines. "We are using our Dower in Viet Nam because the Communists give us no choice." In other calls to Washington from his Texas ranch, Johnson talked about: Pending civil rights legislation and other matters with Attv.

Johnson signed a bill extending for two years the Renegotiation Act which he described in a statement as "another impor tant tool in our quest to get a dollar's worth of value for every defense dollar." That law permits readjust ment of defense contracts if the renegotiation board determines the contractor's profit is too large. In the 15 years the law has been in effect, Johnson said, more than $2 billion has been returned to the government. Another bill signed by the President provides for stopgap appropriations to operate the government until Congress passes the regular annual money bills. The Johnsons younger daughter will turn 19 Saturday, but Moyers said "there are no plans for Luci's birthday." Lud is at the LBJ Ranch with her parents and her husband-to-be, Patrick J.
