24 PIQUA DAILY CALL Thursday, February 4, 1971 CHRYSLER REVEALS ITS SAFETY CUSHION SYSTEM--Chrysler's new passive restraint concept, above, is a safety cushion that protects the right front seat passenger. Upon impact the knee restraint cushion controls forward motion and prevents the body from rising off the seat. The rear-seat passenger, lower photo, is afforded Claims Laird protection through a cushion which extends across the entire width of the back seat. Cushion also serves as a head restraint for driver and front seat passengers. The corporation says passengers are protected from serious injury in front impacts up to thirty miles per hour.

(AP Wirephoto) News Blackout Helped Keep U.S. Losses Low WASHINGTON (AP) Secretary of Defense Melvin R. Laird said today the movement of U.S. and other forces in the South Vietnamese region near the Laotian border "was accomplished without a single casualty attributed to enemy combat." Laird credited' a nearly weeklong news blackout for this, noting that the movements occurred in an area where American troops had suffered casualties in the past. In a talk to a high school student group, Laird gave no details on the big troop movement which finally was announced early today, but he took occasion to defend the controversial embargo imposed on reporters while the movement was in progress.

He did not indicate whether the operation would carry over into Laos. Laird said the embargo was "imposed by Gen. (Creighton) Abrams to protect American lives" and that it was removed when "it achieved its objective." "He did not ask for it he just imposed it," Laird said. "It was within his jurisdiction." Laird said "I'm not going to second Sidney Man Taken To State Hospital SIDNEY Michael Sullenbarger, 22, of 427 E. Kossuth, facing nine grand jury indictments in Shelby County Common Pleas Court, was taken to "Lima State Hospital Wednesday afternoon.

County Prosecutor Thomas Kerrigan said Sullenbarger will undergo mental examinations during the next 30 days. He will not be arraigned until after the exam, explained Kerrigan. Sullenbarger was slated to be arraigned Thursday afternoon. Most of the indictments against Sullenbarger are charges of dispensing and using drugs, plus three counts of statutory rape. He has been in jail since his arrest last week in lieu of bonds totalling Judge Frank Marshall approved Kerrigan's motion to admit Sullenbarger to the hospital.

Sullenbarger's father and attorney have also approved the action. Farmers Sons 4-H Meeting Held The Farmers Sons 4-H Club met Monday at the Home of Bob Peter- tlmet. Light Plane Crashes In Snow Storm LORAIN, Ohio (AP) Sandusky real estate broker Kermit Price, 42, was listed in serious condition today in St. Joseph Hospital here after being injured in the crash of a twin-engine plane Wednesday. An 18-year-old girl who was with Price also was listed as serious.

The State Highway Patrol said the girl's name was being withheld pending notification of her father, who is ser- ill in another hospital. The patrol said the plane crashed in a blinding snow storm, landing in a field behind the Sheffield Village Hall in Lorain County. Price apparently was attempting a landing. The plane hit an embankment and the plane was completely wrecked, with the engines nearly ripped off, the patrol reported. The five-aeat craft belonged to Ron Zodtner Aviation, Inc.

Hie Piqua Municipal Power System is of 89 municipal electric systems in Ohio joining in a plan to increase the reliability of electric service in an eight-state area, George Crosby, Piqua Director of Utilities, announced today. Piqua Municipal Power System, which provides electric service to in excess of 8,500 customers in Piquarea, has become one of 374 liaison members of the East Central Area Reliability (ECAR) group of electric systems. The ECAR region includes all or portions of Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

ECAR is a 1967 agreement among the 26 major bulk power suppliers who provide electricity to more than 32 million people in this eight-state area. These investor-owned and cooperative systems, which already supply power to many of the liaison members, have a total generating capacity in excess of 50 million kilowatts and well over 28,000 miles of transmission lines. Through ECAR, the suppliers coordinate the planning and operation of their generation and transmission facilities for the highest possible degree of service reliability. Crosby said the move will permit all electric systems in the state to take an active part in ECAR projects and activities related to assurance of adequate and dependable electric power. All member municipals in the state will be represented by one Liaison FINANCIAL REPORT OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION For Fiscal Year Ending December 3151,1970 BRADFORD EXEMPTED VILLAGE SCHOOL DISTRICT CountyofMiami P.O.
