Helen F. Wichowski, of Wilkes Lane, Wilkes-Barre, died Feb. 16 at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born April 9, 1913, in Lopez, Sullivan County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Rose (Gumienny) Hen-drick. She was a member of St.

Mary's Church of the Maternity, Wilkes-Barre, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She and her late husband, Henry were founding organizers of the Heights Little League. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter, John and Edward Hendriek; and sisters, Leona Kita and Julia ButofskL Surviving are her sons, Henry, Wilkes- 1 Isabel Price April 15, 2001 Beatrice Morgan April 14, 2001 Beatrice Morgan, 82, a former resident of Lutherwood Apartments, died Saturday at Mountain View Care Center, Scran ton. Born in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Trevor and Verna Morgan. She worked in the merchandising department for Fashion Bug until retiring and was a cashier at Chick's Diner, South Scranton.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred; and brother, Trevor. Surviving are her sons, Trevor, Florida; and William, Texas. A graveside service will be at 10 am Thursday at the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township, with services by the Rev. Dominick Petillo. There will be no public calling hours.

Arrangements are by the Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch St, Scranton. Lena Merolla April 15, 2001 Lena L. Merolla, 89, of Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Nicola and Stella (Dibias) Merolla. She worked for Wilkes-Barre Lace Mill until retirement.

She was a member of Sacred HeartSt John's Parish Community, Wilkes-Barre. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dominick; and sisters, Ange-line Murray and Mary Watkins. Surviving are her brother, Thomas, Parsons, Wilkes-Barre; sister, Rose McNulty, Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday from the Sacred Heart Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Edwardsville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Laura (Benkowski) Boch. She worked at General Cigar, Kingston, and later for Carpenter's Nursing Home, Harveys Lake. She was a member of the Resurrection of the Lord Polish National Catholic Church, Edwardsville. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Boch Jr. Surviving are her husband, Daniel; sons, DanieL Hunlock Creek; and David, Swoyersville; daughter, Paula Supulski, West Palm Beach.

10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and stepsister, Rachael, Edwardsville. Nicholas Phillips April 15, 2001 "Vpcholas "Nick" Phillips, 82, of Plains 1 Township, died Sunday at the Inpatient Unit of Hospice Community Care, Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born in the Breslau section of Hanover Township, he was a son of the late Andrew and Julia (Sevick) Phillips. He was a mechanic for the U.S.

Post Office, Wilkes-Barre, retiring in 1982. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War n. He was a commander and life member of the Amvets Post 59, Hanover Township, member of the Plains American Legion, Joseph E. Conlon Post 558, American Ukrainian Greek Catholic Club, Hanover Township, and SS.

Peter Paul Church, Plains Township. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael, Steve and Andrew; and sisters, Julia Karch and Ann Fera. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Josephine Novichuck; son, Nicholas, Plains Township; daughter, Karen Franchella, Plains Township; four grandchildren; sister, Mary Be-shadiv Lyndwood, Hanover Township; Verna Gula, Breslau; Sophie Mushalla, Denville, N.J.; Irene Stel-mack," Levittown; and Helen Yask, Encinitas, and several nieces and nephews. Isabel M. Price, 74, a resident of Lincoln Plaza, Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Luzerne Borough, died Sunday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital after becoming ill while attending sunrise East er services at the Salvation Army Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Hazel (JDeck-er) Nafus. She attended Luzerne schools. She worked at General Cigar Kingston, for several years. She and her family were among the founders of the former Salvation Army Outpost, Luzerne. She was a member of the Salvation Army Corps, Wilkes-Barre, active with women's ministries and a bell ringer volunteer with the Salvation Army Christmas campaigns for many years.

She was a member of the Sunday school and choir of the Wilkes-Barre Corps. She was a floor captain and bingo caller at the Lincoln Plaza. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; sons, John David E. i Richard Casey Richard J. Casey, 61, of Bar-tonsville, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.

Born Dec. 29, 1939, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of Miriam (Deitrick) Casey, Wilkes-Barre, and the late Edward Casey. He was a graduate of GAR High School, where he was a three-time letterman. He was also a graduate of King's College and the Pennsylvania State Police Acade-rfcx and attended East Stroudsburg University, He was a Pennsylvania State Police officer for 25 years, stationed in Philadelphia, Fern Ridge and Swiftwater. He served in the U.S.

Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 425, Tannersville, Fraternal Order of Police Memorial Lodge 38 and the Pocono Township Volun-teer Fire Co. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane M. (Belardinelli) Casey. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his daughter, Sharon Olt-manns, Bartonsville; brothers, Edward, Nevada; and Charles, Plymouth Meeting; and two nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10 r1 am. Wednesday at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Richard E. Czachor officiating.

Truskoski, 86, of Colley Street, Lyndwood, Hanover Township, formerly of Plymouth, died Sunday at ManorCare Health Services, Kingston. Born April 12, 1915, in Clifton Heights, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Potaszkewicz) Andriekas. She attended Plymouth Borough schools. She was a member of St. Casimir's Church, Lyndwood, Christian Mothers and St Ann's Society, was involved with the annual church bazaar, and a member of the Senior Citizens Club, Public Square, Wilkes-Barre.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; and sister, Eva An-tisavage. Surviving are her sons, An thony and Joseph, both of Lyndwood; daughter, Mary Ann Cunningham, North Royalton, Ohio; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; sister, Connie Sheloski, Lyndwood; and nieces and nephews. 23, 1927, in Ross Township, he was the son of the late John and Martha (Downing) Stevens. He. worked for General Motors, Linden, N.J., for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a Merchant Marines veteran of World War TJ, was present at the invasion of Okinawa and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps after the war.

He was a member of the former Broadway United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Mailler and Ruth Bar-bacci. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Eleanor (Kortis) Stevens; son, Anthony Exton; and Mark Shickshinny; daughter, Barbara Ho-effner, Broadway, and six RoseHiggins April 15, 2001 Theresa Howell April 15, 2001 Theresa Howell, of Harveys Lake, died Sunday at Meadows Nursing Center, where she was a resident for one week. Born June 7, 1904, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (JHetrich) Armbruster. She was a 1920 graduate of St Ann's Academy, Wilkes-Barre.

She was a bookkeeper for many years at several local businesses. Upon retirement in 1970, she worked for Fit Right Head-wear Wilkes-Barre. She was a life member of St Nicholas Church, South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre, member of its Altar and Rosary Society, and the first president of the original Ladies Auxiliary of St Conrad's Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; daughter, Mary Matula; sister, Louise; and brothers, Carl and Robert Surviving are her companion of 42 years, Edward "Bep Hogrebe, Harveys Lake; son, Charles; Kingston; daughter, Ruth Kohl, Kingston; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Marian Zahniser April 16, 2001 Marian V. Zahniser, of Walnut Street, Forty Fort, formerly of Harding, Exeter Township, died Monday at the Hospice Care of the VNA at Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Exeter Township, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Sally (Krum) Van Tuyle. She was a graduate of West Pittston High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Penn State University. She was a teacher for several years and a bookkeeper for the Comfort Designs, Kingston, until retiring.

She was a member of the Forty Fort United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; and brother, Jack Van Tuyle. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Befnoski, Forty Fort; three grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Van Tuyle, Bloomsburg. Haydu, 78, of Plains Township and formerly of the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at Riverstreet Manor Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Bear Creek, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Belle Burgen Walton. She was a gradaute of Coughlin High School and was employed by Plains Bank; Pomeroy's Department Store, Wilkes-Barre; and Rosemarie Dress, Miners Mills. She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; a brother, George (Bud) Walton; sisters, Elizabeth Mc-Groarty, Mary Smith, and Sarah Tal-madge; and a great-grandson, Coury Shannon Baindridge. Surviving are her son, Michael Haydu; and daughter, Rosemary Bain-bridge, both of Plains; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Main St, Wilkes-Barre. Robert T. O'Connell April 15, 2001 Robert T. O'Con nell, 86, of Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston, died Sunday of heart failure at Wilkes-Barre General HospitaL Born Oct. 19, 1914, in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Hazlett and Agnes (Garrity) O'Connell.

He was educated in Dunmore schools and graduated from Dunmore High School, Class of 1933. He earned a bachelor of science degree in education specializing in industrial arts from Millersville University in 1939, and attended graduate courses at Rutgers University. Mr. O'Connell earned his master's degree in supervisory administration from Bucknell University. He accepted a position as a shop teacher at Exeter High School and later served with the Army in the European Theater during World War II, earning three bronze stars.

He resumed his teaching career in 1946 at West Pittston High School. In 1968, he was named principal of Wyoming Area High School, retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Pittston, and was a fourth degree knight, President John F. Kennedy Assembly No.

948, Knights of Columbus Council No. 372, Pittston. His wife, Anne (Sharkey) O'Connell, died March 9, 1976. Sisters, Madeline McAndrew, Theresa Kearney, Lillian Dolan; and brothers, Howard, John, Joseph and Edgar also preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Robert T.

O'Connell West Pittston; daughter, Anne Ruggles, West Pittston; grandsons, David Ruggles, West Pittston; and Peter Ruggles, West Pitttson; numerous nieces and nephews. Yank Slabinski April 15, 2001 TT'rJmk Slabinski, 91, of Gouge JL Street, Plains Township, died Sunday at Kessler Hospital, Hammonton, N.J. Burn in Plains Township, he was a son of the late Walter and Mary (Hopa) Slabinski.

He was a retired machinist for the Gort's Textile Mill, Hudson, Plains Township. He was a mentoer of SS. Peter and Paul Church, Plains Township, its Holy Name Society and the Wyoming Valley Catholic Laymen's Retreat League for 25 years. H6 was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph, Clement and Chester, and sister, Catherine Zenicki. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, the former Jessie Luckenbach, Plains Township; daughter, Lorraine Cap-pucclo, Hammonton; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Anthony, Jenkintown; Louis, Ha-zleton; and Edward, North Bergen, N.J.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the Mark V. Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark Plains Township, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Church.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carver-ton, Kingston Township. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to SS. Peter Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Township, 18705.

Carolyn KowalsM i April 5, 2001 Carolyn Kowalski, of Endwell, N.Y., formerly of Pittston, died April 5 -at Rivermede Manor Nursing Home, Binghamton, N.Y. She was a daughter of the late Ross and Santa Alba. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Endicott, N.Y., its Altar and Rosary Society and member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was preceded in death by her husband.

At and brother, Angelo Alba. Surviving are her daughter, Sandra Pecka, Binghamton; son, Mark, Austin, Texas; four grandchildren; sister, Mary Scarantino, Pittston; and brother, Tony Alba, Pittston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held from the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home 1905 Watson Endicott. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Born in Swoyersville, she was a daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Yencha.

She attended Swoyersville Schools. She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Church, North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Witkowsky and Betty Labuda; and a brother, Joseph Artim. Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mary A. Harostock Funeral Home, 480 N. Main Wilkes-Barre, followed by a divine liturgy at 2:30 p.m. at St.

Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the parish cemetary, Dallas..
