Flickering embers of love, known one or two, But Old Flames hold a candle to you. from a popular song February, month for red flowers, boxes of chocolate candy, Heart Fund, etc. is almost over. No Leap Year this year! HI mention a few activities that I know about: A group of young people from Lake view Church of Christ, and La Vega Church of Christ enjoyed together a Banquet on February 14 held at the La Vega building.

At Oaklawn Baptist Church a large number assembled to hear a talk by Ralph Briscoe of Department of Public Safety. Rev. Paul Smith led the devotional. a former pastor of Oaklawn Baptist) Guests enjoyed a meal catered by Bill and Market. Ladies of the church supplied the pies.

The floral arrangements were by Mrs. Billy Porter, and each lady present received a pot plant. I attended the Party" held at the Tri-Cities Senior Citizens Center. Ann Yates is director. Announcer was Louise Stipes.

Catherine McLendon had been chosen as of Hearts," or Sweetheart." Her escort was Doug Coats. They each wore a crown, and prominaded to the music of Me Call You Sweetheart" played on the piano by Ethel Mimms, as the audience sang along. Last Sweetheart, Mrs. Sylvia Jones, and her escort, Otis Ptyor, also practicipated. Red roses were presented to Queen Catherine.

It was a lovely occasion. Erlene Wiggleton from Marlin recently visited with relatives, Mr. and Mrs. William Wiggleton of Bellmead. Mr.

and Mrs. Thomas Dwayne Roberson celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on February 15. They were honored by their congregation, Victory Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God (on Air Base Road) of which Mr. Roberson is pastor. It was the 18th Anniversary for the church, founded by the Robersons.

Mr. and Mrs. Bruce (Angela) Durant and children, Adrianne and Nick, who live on TSTI campus, visited at the home of Bruce's parents who live in Jacksonville. and there: I "made small with relatives, Mrs. Maxine Crum, and son, Chester, while in a local supermarket.

Maxine is a nurse at A Hospital, and, Chester, is employed at Pioneer Welders. lived in Bellmead a long time. 1 exchanged greetings with Mr. and Mrs. Chester (Venita) Crossley, their daughter, Pauline, and her little daughter, Brittany.

The Crossleys are Tri-Cities residents, and Pauline and her little girl live in Moody, I believe. Mr. Crossley is retired after working at Emoire Seed Co. for 35 years. back over my notes, I see omitted a few sentences like to include: I need to say that Ralph Briscoe, and a Mr.

Porter brought the program at the Oaklawn Baptist Church, along with Paul Smith, when the Valentine Party was held. (I didn't understand all the facts myself, so perhaps 111 have to correct the whole news item next time around). and Mrs. J.W. Millard of 1107 Hogan will be honored with a Golden Wedding Reception to be held on March 2.

time of this writing, Fred Behringer is a patient at a local hospital. He and wife, Eva Mae, are longtime Tri-Cities Country residents. He owns Barber Shop in the area. About 2 years ago, the Ricky Walden Family moved away from Tri-Cities Country. They recently moved back, after living in Whitney.

They now reside on TSTI campus. Seventh-grader Vicki, 5th grader Janies, and the two younger girls, will be riding with us on our church van or bus for Wednesday night classes.and at other times appreciate all the news items that are given to me, and my thanks for reading Bellmead in Bloom. I remember your comments, and will try to "squeeze some of the little things you say like for me to include, as well as repeat some as lines from a song, or a poem, a quote, a short story that a child would like to hear read aloud: my mother read to before I learned to read: I read nightly to my own children, and I told stories andpoemsto my grandchildren. and Mrs. Mike Boyd of Rita Street in Northcrest have a new son who was born on Wednesday, January 15.

Raymond Lee Mathis of Bellmead became parents of a son. The mother is the former Cynthia Marie Kroll. Welcome to the world. Baby Boy Mathis! Mr. and Mrs.

Larry Joe Cantwell Jr. of Tri-Cities Country are parents of a "brand daughter. She was bom on Tuesday, January 15. The mother is the former Tammy Lynn doll with a doll!" Remember: You turn back the clock but you can wind it up Reicher Briefs Melissa Gonzales, senior at Reicher Catholic High School was elected as the at the recent Sweetheart Dance at Reicher. In addition to being chosen as she was also named as the first-runner up in the LIJLAC scholarship contest and awarded a $500 scholarship.

Michele DeLeon also a senior at Reicher Catholic High School, received a $400 scholarship. Both girls may now move on to further competition with the possibility of having their scholarships doubled. Ms. Gonzales is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Johnny Gonzales, and Ms. DeLeon is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Constancio DeLeon. Brad Jones, sophomore at Reicher Catholic High School, was named to the First Team All- District Boys Basketball for 2- AAA.

Brad was the team leader in shooting, scoring 191 points with from the free-throw line. He also tied for second in rebounds and was the leader in assists. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Jones.

Two Reicher Catholic High Seniors were named to the 2-AAA first and second All-District basketball teams. Tracy Dulock, who scored an average of 22 points a game and 9 rebounds per game, was named to the first team, and Mary Lou Castillo, who averaged 17 points per game and also played strong defensive basketball, was named to the second team. Tracy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Fred Dulock, and Mary Lou is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
